Mr. John Gerald Ashley IV

John Gerald Ashley, IV was born on March 1,1988, to the union of John Gerald Ashley, III and Teresa Bennett in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. John received his formal education through the Milwaukee Public Schools System, and received his GED in 2007. He later honed his skills in asphalt and concrete work, learning the trade alongside his grandfather. John embraced his faith early in life, accepting Christ as his Savior. He was also a frequent visitor to St. Mark AME Church. John was extremely gifted. He was an entrepreneur that loved working with technology and art. John was a family man much like his dad and FaFa, who enjoyed spending quality time with his sons and longtime partner Detora (Tori). He also enjoyed spending special time with his uncle Mark watching the Milwaukee Bucks and Packers games. John loved spending time with his mother whom he referred to as "Mommy Dearest." He was such a momma's boy! John enjoyed shopping (he had total swag and every shoe imaginable). John had a special bond with his dad and enjoyed their visits together. He was a very loving young man and helped take care of his dad after his health began to decline. John also had a unique relationship with his FaFa who taught him about the asphalt industry. He worked side by side with him laying asphalt until his untimely death. John struggled with the loss of both his Dad and FaFa and would often share memories about them with his siblings. He lived with his Grandparents for a short period of time, and they could never resist an opportunity to spoil him. His Gramma Joan would make her delicious pound cakes and John would eat the entire cake by himself! He affectionately referred to her as "His Girl". He was fortunate to have two Grandmothers who doted over him. Gramma Jean was his caretaker after school. As John got older, she loved when he would call and check on her to see if she was okay and if she needed anything. He also enjoyed hanging out with and mentoring his nephew, Jerrin. They would spend hours and hours together talking about life and playing video games. John loved all his younger siblings (Justin, Ariel and Jaela). He liked being the big brother! He adored his older sister Johnette, as they were inseparable. Where you saw one, the other was soon to follow. They had such a close relationship to where their mother often referred to them as "the twins." He cherished his aunt Dawn (Doobie) who gave him the nickname "Doodle" when he was a year old because of his tenacious and perspicacious personality. As a small child, John had that "to do" spirit and wanted to help others. Growing up, John shared fun times with his cousin Lance and often got together with him to do some catching up or just to hang out. John knew the importance of family and always enjoyed being with his- it was always his place of comfort. John Gerald Ashley IV departed this life on November 2, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, John Gerald Ashley III, his grandfather Elbert "Gene" Ashley (Fa-Fa), his grandfather, Johnny Campbell, and his uncle Gary L. Woods. Mr. John Gerald Ashley IV, leaves to cherish his mother; Teresa Walker, his devoted life-partner; Detora Dallas, Three children; John Ashley, Jrue Ashley, Trey Pierce, Three sisters; Johnette Ashley, Ariel (Montreal) Lawrence, and Jaela Ashley, One brother; Justin Thompson, Two Aunts; Dr. Dawn ( Alonzo) Chapman, Patricia Campbell, One uncle; Garrett (Keyontah ) Bennett of Maricopa, AZ Two nieces; Jurnei Thompson and Jayci Purvis, Four nephews Jerrin Ashley, Jayden Ashley, Justin Thompson, Jr., Jurzee Thompson, his 3rd grade best friend Marquise Hampton, and a host of cousins and friends.
