Ms. Mary Elizabeth Martin

Mary E. Martin was born on February 4, 1952 to the proud and loving parents Rev. Lee Jones Martin Sr. and Itaska Martin in Belzoni, Mississippi. She was the fourth of eight children. Her family moved to Chicago, Illinois and later they relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mary was a good student who excelled in her academics, she rec ived her formal education from the Milwaukee Public School System attending Lee Street Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and Lincoln High School in which she graduated from in 1971. She furthered her education attending MATC majoring in the Nursing Program. Mary confessed life at an early age uniting with Greater Galilee Baptist Church. She later became a member of Christ The King Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John McVicker. Mary was a faithful member until her health declined. Mary was a devoted mother who cherished and adored her children. She showered them with unconditional love. The love she shared with Daniel Wright and Willie Jackson created her beautiful offsprings Willie Martin and Itaska Wright. She was determined to raise them with good morals. Mary was a hard working woman who was admired for her knowledge and dedication in the Medical Profession. She provided Professional Health Care Services fer over Twenty-five years until she was forced into early retirement due to an injury she sustained. Sh later had a battle with Breast Cancer and is a Survivor of that. She had been employed by Lutheran Hospital where she worked as a Health Unit Coordinator. She later worked at Good Samaritan Medical Center as a Obstetrician Technician and a Surgical Technician in the labor and delivery unit. She also filled the demand for othe positions that were needed at Columbia and St. Joseph Hospital. In her leisure, Mary was known for and enjoyed cooking her famous Red Beans and Rice. She also enjoyed Stepping, Crocheting hats and scarves for family and friends, watching Old Western Movies and the Soap Opera Young and The Restless. Mary loved listening to music, her current favorite song was "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and hanging out with her childhood friend Onia Hudson and Best friend Gloria Martin. Mary loved spending quality time with her grandchildren. She recently reconnected with her oldest grandson after years of praying. Mary was warm, sweet and kind to everyone. Her smile would light up a room. She was loved and will be dearly missed. She transitioned home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Lee Jones Martin Sr. and Itaska Martin, son; Willie Earl Martin, brothers; Dennis and Charles Martin and brother-in-law Gus Bradley. She leaves to cherish her loving memory to her daughter; Itaska Wright, sisters; Freddie Ruth Bradley and Yolanda Snow (Douglas) Three brothers; Calvin Martin (Gloria), Lee Martin Jr. (Deborah) and Tyrone Martin, Sister-In-law Betty Martin, Four grandchildren; Derrick Janzen, Querrion Wright-Hutchins and Kam me Jade Wright- Hutchins and Kyson Harris, great grandchild; McKenna Fernandez-Janzen, Godchildren; AI Hudson, Cartell Hudson along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
