Mr. William Hall

William Hall was born August 29,1922 in Napoleonville, Louisiana. He was the second oldest of five children born to Louis and Ida Hall. He attended Hoffman High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition, William was married to Clara Mae Hall (deceased) and from that union, he had one child: William Hall, Jr. (June). He, later, married Adlean Hall (deceased) and from that union he had four children: Charles Hall, Lynette LaQuana Eubanks, Adriane Lou Hopson, and Tommy Hall. Many years later, he married Hattie Foster Hall and no children evolved from that union. For nearly 20 years, William Hall, also known in the boxing world as "Henry Hall:' was blessed to pursue a passion that quickly converted into a promising career. After only 6 amateur matches, William Hall became a professional, light-heavyweight contender. During his career, William fought boxing greats like Archie "The Mongoose" Moore, and although he was a light-heavyweight, he also boxed exhibition bouts with former, World Heavyweight Champions, Joe Louis and Ezzard Charles, giving both fighters "a run for their money:' During the prime of his career, "The Ring" magazine reported that he had "superior speed and a ma- chine gun left" to fend off and knock out his opponents. Decades later, William was rendered another great honor, by the reporters of "The Ring" magazine, when they featured and chronicled his life story and boxing career in June of2001. Succeeding his boxing career, William embarked upon an occupation as a skilled construction worker for Stevens Construction. More importantly, William dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age. He was a faithful member of St. Marcus Lutheran Church for 52 years and he, actively, served as a deacon, as well as the custodian for both st. Marcus church and school. All who knew him will remember his kind heart, his love for cracking jokes, and his "willing and ready" spirit to help anyone in need. He was, also, a wonderful and loving father and grandfather. Moreover, he exemplified the four pillars of a good husband and father within a home- for he was a priest, prophet, protector, and provider to his family. Without a shadow of a doubt, everyone who knew William can attest to his intense love for the Lord; and, above all, that is what we will remember him for- his fiery passion for the One he loved more than life itself- Jesus. On Wednesday, May 25,2016, William Hall departed this life to enter into the glorious arms of his Lord and Savior. He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons: William Jr. (Barbara), Charles, and Tommy; three daughters: Lynette, Adriane, and Marion (Johnny), and 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Praise the Lord!
