Mrs. Alberta Robinson

On the 28th day of January, 1930, in Rogersville, Alabama, the Lord of heaven and earth blessed Bennie and Lucy Simmons Butler with a beautiful baby girl. They named that baby Alberta (“Bert”). Her older brother Robert and older sister, Callie Mae received her with much joy and gladness! Her bright eyes and deep dimples made her irresistible! While Robert was several years older, Callie Mae and Alberta were closer in age. They were more like best friends than sisters. They lovingly called each other, “Sister.” Alberta received Jesus Christ as her personal savior at a young age and was baptized at Little Elk Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama. She moved to Milwaukee in 1947 and united with the Tabernacle Community Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend Jewel Williams and later the Reverend Robert L. Harris. She served faithfully with the Gospel Chorus, Board of Deaconess and the Mothers Board. Her real joy was visiting and ministering to the sick. Alberta met the love of her life, Robert D. Robinson in the 50’s. They were united in holy matrimony June 14th, 1958. The Lord blessed “Bert and Bob” with two energetic, handsome and loving boys, Marty and Jeffrey. Some of Alberta’s favorite past times were to go fishing with Bob, bring the fish home and fry them! They enjoyed cooking, traveling, visiting family and serving in their church together. Alberta lived her life to the glory of God. It gave her great joy to help others. She enjoyed good conversation, hearing new and interesting things, and having a good laugh! She LOVED her Tabernacle Church family and proudly displayed the special quilt she received from church, fashioned especially for her, with the beautiful quilted/traced hands of dear members. She laid that very quilt across her legs almost every day. Alberta served her church faithfully until her health began to fail. On Saturday, January 27th, 2018 in the early hours of the morning, the Lord beckoned Alberta to come home and take her eternal rest. Although her physical presence is gone, her smile, her laughter, her finesse, her beauty and her heart to serve will forever remain in our hearts. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, two siblings (Robert L. Smith and Callie Mae Beamon) and her husband, Robert D. Robinson. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Marty Karp of Minneapolis, MN, and Jeffrey Beardsley of Kenosha, WI, nephew (like a son), Aristide Smith, Jr. (Rev. Christine A. Smith) of Shaker Heights, OH, a special God-Daughter, Dr. Gloria Pitchford Nicholas (Clarence) of Milwaukee, WI, Brother in law, John T. Robinson (Dora) of Milwaukee, WI, Sisters in law, Willie Mae Clary and Lois Faulkner of New Edinburg, AR, Mrs. Wynetta Smith of Florence, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
