Mr. Alex Burdett Beamon

Alex Burdette Beamon was born on June 13th, 1961 to Lena Triplett and Willie Beamon, in Milwaukee, WI, where he lived all of his life. He was the youngest of five children; to siblings Anne, Terry, Vivian and Todd. He was the father of three amazing sons; Jason and twins Daniel and Nathaniel, all of whom he loved dearly. Alex was affectionately called "Burt" by most of his family. He graduated from Hamilton High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, majoring in Accounting. While there, he helped found the Delta Psi Chi Fraternity, lnc.. along with a group of 6 other like-minded young men. The Fraternity was founded in 1985 and received their charter in April of that year. He was often referred to as "MHFF" which acknowledged him for being one of the Most Honorable Founding Father(s). To honor his many contributions, the Organization began awarding Fraternity Members who provide outstanding Community Service while being a pillar to their community, with the Alex B. Beamon Humanitarian Award. Alex worked in a number of positions throughout his professional career. He was an Officer at Aurora Health Care, where he was presented with a plaque as the Most Improved Officer in 1992. In 1999 he transitioned to a position at the Vel R. Phillips Juvenile Justice Center, a Division of Milwaukee County, as a Juvenile Officer. He retired from this position after 15 years of service. Alex was also a devoted member of the International Masons and Order of the Eastern Star for more than ten years. He was an Officer of Oran McShan Grand Lodge of Wisconsin. He started with the Curtis Henderson Lodge #62 and then transferred to the King Solomon Lodge #63. Here he served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Milwaukee Trustee Board. "His loyalty, leadership, genuine smile and soft-spoken words of wisdom will never be forgotten," according to Grand Master Travis Spell. Alex was a beacon of knowledge and insight in these organizations and worked with both the Oran McShan Grand Lodge and his beloved Delta Chi Psi Fraternity until a few weeks before he passed. During his spare time, Alex was an avid lover of music often creating customized playlists for family members and friends. His "mix tapes" of old school, slow jams, soft jazz and R&B were coveted by both young and old alike. Alex was very enthusiastic about sports; especially basketball. He predicted earlier this year that the Milwaukee Bucks coach would be named coach of the year, and he was correct. He also loved to read the newspaper and did so on a daily basis. He liked looking at the newspaper because he saw much more than just looking at his computer screen. He made it a point to purchase the daily newspaper, every day. Alex dealt with a host of health issues including being on dialysis from 2010 until he received a kidney transplant in 2015. He had hoped that the transplant would provide him with a new lease on life. Unfortunately, the immune (suppressing) drugs he took to fight the kidney rejection, lowered his body's tolerance to dangerous depths. In late 2018 cancer invaded his body. After a 7month struggle, he succumbed to the disease. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Lena & Willie as well as his older brother, Terry Tally. In addition to his three sons, he leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters, Anne Tally-Saunders, (New York), and Vivian N. Ciepluch (Milwaukee, WI) and his brother, Todd K. Beamon, (Boynton Beach, FL), as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be remembered fondly by his many friends and brothers at Delta Chi Psi Fraternity and the Oran McShan Grand Lodge.
