Lawrence, a woman defined by her enduring strength, unparalleled style, and boundless giving spirit, traded her elaborate earthly wardrobe for a robe of glory. Alice, 68, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, affectionately known as Lue, completed her earthly journey, leaving behind a legacy as colorful and extensive as her closet. Born on August 28, 1957, in Coahoma, Mississippi, Alice Jude was the daughter of the late Ellis and Essie Jude. She and her family moved to Milwaukee, WI in 1969. Alice graduated from the Milwaukee Public School system, attending North Division High School. The Woman Who Could Move Mountains-and Keep Moving Alice was a woman of constant motion and remarkable versatility. Athletic in her youth, she participated in Majorettes, Drill Team, Track, Bowling, Softball, and Choir. This energy and drive defined her professional life. For 34 years, she was a dedicated civil servant for the City of Milwaukee, fearlessly working in traditionally male roles, operating heavy equipment like the snow plow, auger, trencher, pneumatic mole, and pneumatic hole hog; she even did aerial lifts to assist in repairing streetlights. Alice concluded her career in 2020 as an office assistant, a role she took on for the last 15 years, proving she could succeed anywhere she put her mind-and her designer boots- to work. Even after her official retirement on January 31, 2020, Alice couldn't slow down. True to her nature, she continued to put her skills to use, working 2-3 days a week as a Billing Specialist for Hands That Help PCA. A Giving Heart Dressed in Designer Threads Alice's true calling was service. Her giving spirit was evident in every role she held. As a church leader, she "wore many hats". She was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Praise Dance Teacher, Usher and Treasurer. Alice worked with Lad Lake, Inc. as an Outreach Worker, serving the community by facilitating the reunification of family. She could always be found helping whenever and wherever needed. Married to Calvin Lawrence, the love of her life, on August 2, 2008, Alice cherished spending time with her family, a love that brought her endless joy. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and great-grandmother of two great -grandchildren. Forever Fashion Forward Alice had an undeniable, passionate love for fashion. Her extensive and elaborate wardrobe was legendary, filled with countless shoes and accessories, each piece reflecting her vibrant personality. Even when faced with illness, Alice maintained her vibrant style and her commitment to keep moving forward, always presenting her best self to the world. She taught us that strength, grace, and a stunning pair of heels could overcome anything. Family Legacy Alice joins those who preceded her in death: parents, Ellis and Essie Jude; daughter, Toshiba Jude-Haney; brothers; Ellis Jude Jr, Levon C.
