Mr. Alvin Parr

The life of everlasting eternity was given to Alvin Parr on July 25,2022, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Alvin was born on June 3, 1934, in Kaiser Arkansas to Murdie and Bernice Parr. As a young boy, Alvin attended school in Reeds Missouri. The family moved to Haiti Missouri where Alvin enjoyed a wonderful life on the farm with his parents and siblings, from getting into trouble with his twin brother, Calvin, stringing up and setting fire to baby chickens under the porch, watching Annie Mae go off to marriage at a young age, taking Ivory's advice about everything, trying to keep up with Melvin who had a mind of his own, caring for Samuel, watching Sylvester getting run over in the rode, and caring for Juanita who followed him and fell off the tractor and got cut. Alvin and his brothers would catch a ride to another town to pick cotton, making sure they got out of there before dark. Alvin truly enjoyed that family bond of looking out for one another with his siblings, nieces and cousins. Alvin always dreamed of having a family and when he relocated to Milwaukee WI in the 1950's, he saw a beautiful brown skinned young lady walking down the street to and from school and wanted to make her his wife. This marriage with Willa Porter occurred on June 22, 1957, and provided Alvin with the family he wished for. Alvin became the proud father of six children (one of whom passed away soon after childbirth). Alvin was a great provider. When one company would lay-off, he would go to another seeking employment. He worked at Milwaukee Bedding Company, Briggs and Stratton and spent most of his career at Rexnord, where he retired. Alvin re-entered the workforce and finished his career at ABM. Alvin was grounded in faith and loved his church; Holy Sanctuary Church of God in Christ where he served under the leadership of the late Pastor Herbert J. Lewis and current Pastor Evg. Mae Lois Lewis. Alvin was very active in serving as an anointed Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Deacon, Member of the Board of Trustees, Pastor's Aide, working with the Emergency Food Pantry, Cleaning Committee and a Choir Member. During family gatherings, Alvin would tell stories of his life and talk about bible scriptures. Once started all his children and grandchildren would begin to surround him listening intently and absorbing his messages. Him and his story telling will be missed. Alvin was a loving father, uncle, friend, cousin, church member and enjoyed being a grandfather (Paw Paw). Alvin was predeceased by his Father, Murdie Parr, Mother, Bernice Parr, Wife, Willa Parr, Brothers, Calvin Parr, Melvin Parr, Samuel Parr and Sylvester Parr and Sisters, Annie Mae Smith, Ivory Warren, and Juanita Parr. He leaves to cherish his memories-his Children: Ronald (Linda), Venita (Craig), Demetra (Lonnie), Reginald and Danette. His Grandchildren: Shawntell (Anthony), Catrina (Adrian), Reginald, DeVante, Demaris and Devan. His Great Grandchildren: Markees, Domonique and Rian. Godson; Melvin Jr. He also leaves behind a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and many friends.
