Mrs. Annie Maude Harris

ANNIE M. HARRIS (nee Evans) was born Bennie Mae Evans on June 29, 1934 to the union of the late Ben and Lannie Evans in Estabutcher, Mississippi (twelve miles north of Hattiesburg, Mississippi). In the late 1940's she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin after the passing of her parents. As a teenager, Annie lived with her brother, the late Benjamin Evans, her sisters, the late Helen C. Rodgers, and the late Lorraine Fields. Annie received her formal education at Lincoln High School. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young girl. She united with Tabernacle Community Baptist Church and served as a faithful usher for many years until her health failed. She was a member of the United Church Usher's choir. She accepted her calling in 1988 as one of Tabernacle Junior Usher's Supervisor until 2010. Annie was blessed with two sons Bobby and Maurice Evans. She was employed by Milwaukee County as a custodian for 35 years until she retired. After retirement she decided she was bored and found her a part time job as a school bus driver. She loved the kids. In her leisure, she enjoyed listening to gospel music, blues, fishing, croqueting, gardening, and making greens. Annie devoted her time, love, and patience to many that she came in contact with. She showed unconditional love and would say, "Take it to the Lord, for he hears your prayers." She loved children and it didn't matter who they belonged to; she was a die hard Atari and Nintendo game player, and always made nice soothing great tasting coffee while she played her games all day. Her grandson definitely took after her in playing his PlayStation game. She touched many young people lives and expressed her love, wisdom and knowledge of life. Her love was always shown through a glorious ray of light. Annie M. Harris went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 5,2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Lannie Evans, her son Maurice Evans, three sisters Helen (George) Rodgers, Lorraine Fields, Luna Mae Robinson, three brothers Benjamin (Juanita) Evans, Canton(Flossie) Evans, and Leo Evans. She leaves to cherish her memory; son, Bobby Evans of Mobile, AL; brother, Louis Thomas Evans of Atoka, TN; three grandchildren, Carmanita Evans, Robert (Lisa) Evans [r., both of Milwaukee, WI, Chiquita (Adrian) Perdue of Mobile, AL; seven great grandchildren Zoie, Nyla, Nia, Ava, Robert III(Rn, Adrian Jr. (An, and Noah; extended family, nieces, nephews, along with a host of friends.
