Mrs. Archie Lee Lee

Mrs. Archie L. (Anderson) Lee was born on February 13, 1938 in Tifton, Georgia to the union of the late Arch and Viola (Cheaver) Anderson. Archie was the third of nine children. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was united with Allen Temple A.lVLE. Church. She received her formal education at Tift County Industrial High School in Tifton, Georgia, where she played basketball and was voted Miss T.C.1. Homecoming Queen. Archie moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1956, where she nurtured her family, including several siblings who also settled in Milwaukee. She studied at Milwaukee Area Technical College and was initially employed as a seamstress for Florence Eisman. She was later employed as a machinist at Globe Union and ultimately retired from Briggs & Stratton in 1993. She united with S1. Mark A.ME. Church and joined the J.E. Bradford Club to help raise funds to burn the church mortgage. Their social events and fellowships were the means by which the Lord blessed this ministry. She also served as a Missionary in the Geraldine Bradford Women's Missionary Society. Archie was united in holy matrimony with Rev. Emmett Lee on April 11, 1981 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their blended family includes eight children. Following their union, she joined him at Ellison Chapel A.lVLE. Church. Over the next 32 years, with Rev. Lee as the Pastor, Mrs. Lee served as a faithful First Lady and Missionary of three congregations - Ellison Chapel A.ME. Church and the Dorothy Hawkins Missionary Society; Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church in Rockford, Illinois, and Wayman A.M.E. Church in Racine, Wisconsin. During their tenure at Wayman A.M.E. Church, she served as the Women's Missionary Society North Area Chairperson, Milwaukee District for eight years. After Rev. Lee's pastoral retirement, they felt compelled to return home to continue their ministry with S1. Mark A.M.E. Church, where they both had roots. Archie was a true mother and woman of God to her immediate and extended family, friends, and others she came in contact with. She was a talented seamstress and cook, known for her pound cakes and pecan pies she often sold out for Missionary bazaars. She was known for recognizing her family members' and friends' birthdays and anniversaries through her personal greeting card ministry. Archie transitioned to eternal life on December 27, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch and Viola Anderson; three sisters, Ola Mae Nundy, Mae Helen Cheaver, and Altomease Jones; one brother, James Anderson; and one daughter, Rev. Jovanna Archer. She leaves to cherish her love and memory, her beloved husband, Rev. Emmett Lee, four daughters, Rev. Sharon (Gary) Lee of Milwaukee, WI, Sharon Richardson and Susan Lee of Cedar Rapids, IA and Emily Lee of Des Moines, IA; three sons, Michael Thomas of Seattle, W A, Reginald (Debra) Thomas of Tifton, GA, and Gregory Lee of Rockford, IL; a special grandson, Gary Lee, II; four brothers, Ernest (Brenda) Anderson and Bill (Denise) Anderson of Milwaukee, WI; Earl Anderson of Lansing, MI, and Bobby (Diana) Anderson of Ellenwood, GA; an aunt, Bettye Dooley-Martin; a godson, Rance "RJ" Kendrick, Jr.; a special daughter, Janice Winfrey; a special friend Johnnie "Bro" Milton, Sr.; and a host of other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, church families, and friends.
