Mrs. Arjorie Ruth Smith

Arjorie Ruth Smith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 22, 1931 to the union of Camilla and Lester C. Royal. After Lester's passing, Camilla married lona Organ in 1945, and he became father to Arjorie and her siblings in name and acts. Arjorie received her formal education through Milwaukee Public Schools and attended Lincoln High School. Arjorie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. At the age of six, she was one of the children that marched into O'Bee's Funeral Home with her siblings and parents in February of 1937 to organize what we now know a Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. While serving at Metropolitan, she attended Sunday School, Bible Classes, sung in the Choir and attended Prayer Meetings, which are all the things children did when your father was the 1st Sunday School Superintendent and one of the founding members. She also served as the Co-Coordinator of the Meal Program & Food Pantry. Arjorie Royal was united in holy matrimony with Alan S. Smith on December 28, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with four children. She was employed by Milwaukee Public Schools as a Teacher's Aide. After many years of service, she retired in 1990. After retirement and in her leisure time, she enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time with her family who she loved unconditionally. She also enjoyed puzzle books, listening to music, reading the Journal/Sentinel and novels, watching the sun rise and set and she loved butterflies. Her favorite scripture is Psalms 100:5. For those who knew her, family and friends alike, knew that Arjorie was a selfless and giving person. She made friends easily. She was always ready, willing and able to help anyone in need; all you had to do was ask and it was done. She had a special place in her heart for children and her faith in God was very important to her. Arjorie was a Servant for the Lord and He has called her home; to her final resting place. Arjorie Ruth Smith departed this life on Monday, July 8,2018, where she joined her heavenly family; Husband, Alan Samuel Smith, Parents; Camilla, Lester and lona, Siblings; Fred Royal and Juanita (Charles) Thomas, Son; Gregory Alan Smith, Brother-in- Law, Harold Jackson and Son-in-Law, Edison McCants. She leaves to cherish her memory Elizabeth "Betty" Jackson and Gail Sprewer Hicks (sisters). Sister-in-law; Alexandria Royal, Brothers-in -laws, Johnny (Martha) Smith and Tyrone (Song) Smith, Children; Lester Philip Smith, Victor Lamont (Clarice) Smith, and Alicia Camille Smith. Daughter-in-law; Sharyl Smith, Grandchildren; Sarita (Larence) Rushing, Shannon (Derrick) Lowrie, Greg Smith, Rashida (Dejuan) Bonds, Joshua Samuels, Victor Kwame Brown, Necole (Elston) Montford, Terese (Delon) Powell, Jamaal (Shvon) Smith, Alan (Courtney) Livingston, RaShonda (Tiffany) Stewart, Chantell (Ron) Sain, and Ryan (Jessica) Nielsen-McCants; 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. A special cousin Rosie Haskins and friend Betty Banks, and an entire host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We love you and miss you Arjorie Ruth. You will always be our "Beautiful Black Butterfly"
