Mr. Arthur Anthony Murchison

Arthur Anthony Murchison was born on February 20, 1946 to parents, Arthur Allen and Cerie Murchison in Chicago, IL. He was raised by his beloved grandmother, Fannie Allen. He entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 6, 2016, after battling cancer. He was preceded in death by his sister, Melestine Allen-Hicks. Arthur (aka Art) attended school at Shoop Elementary and Morgan Park High in Chicago, IL. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin where he received a B.A. degree in Sociology. Art accepted Christ at an early age and was later re-baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church and then united with Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he remained until death. While at Mount Carmel, Art was a faithful member of the Men's Male Chorus and served as the Men's Day Chair person. Art loved boxing and was a successful amateur boxer. He had an opportunity to spar with Muhamad Ali. Art was inducted in the Arm Services in 1962. Where he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. Art was employed with Career Youth Development (CYD). It was during this time where' he met his lifelong friend Doris Black who later became his wife. Through his work at CYD, he inspired many people in the Milwaukee area. While at CYD, he received numerous awards including four Excellence In Community Service and Love of Youth Image Awards. Art was also employed with Marquette University as Property Management Director. Later in life, Art decided to go back into his first love helping youth. He met and teamed up with Burney Smith who owed Zinger Tours of Washington D.C. and open Zinger Tours North. Art tour business flourished, he took many Inner-city students and adults on tours around the United States and Canada. He had a zeal for life and it showed to the many lives that he touched! Arthur leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Doris Black Murchison; two daughters, Alanna Murchison and Katrina Tate; one son, Charles (Sonia) Murchison; step- mother, Ida Allen; one brother, Lionel Allen; six grandchildren, Charles Xavier, ChdesjahAnjvan, Corey Antwan, Chiersten Amani, Arianna and Lennox; two grandchildren, Xaivion Christian and Nikayah Monroe; the Black, Evans and Allen families, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
