Mrs. Bernice Campbell

BERNICE CAMPBELL was born on October 8, 1937, in Kosciusko, Mississippi to Leonard and Geneva Perteet. As a young girl growing up in Kosciusko, Bernice accepted Christ and became a member of the Silas Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Tipton Street School in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Upon graduating from Tipton Street in 1957, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She united with St. Mark AME Church, where she was a faithful and active member until her health started to deteriorate. In January 2,1960, Bernice married her friend and the love of her life, Joseph Campbell. From this union they had two children, Yolanda and Vicki. She worked at the YMCA and later at Tulip Corporation for 35 years. She retired in December 2002. Bernice loved cleaning, gardening, getting out to vote, participating in the Neighborhood Watch program and in St. Mark's Stewardess Board. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend has departed this earth for another land. ''A city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebrewsll: 10). On Sunday evening, October 16,2016, Bernice Campbell passed away at Luther Manor nursing home after a battle with Alzheimer's. Her family and friends were by her side when the angel of death came and she drifted off to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Joseph Campbell; daughter, Vicki (Jeffrey) Gaddis; granddaughters, Lakayla Hall and Asia Molex; her grandson Jovonni Campbell, great granddaughter, Laila Ewing; great grandson, Jovonni Campbell,Jr.; five sisters, Barbara (William) Lawrence, Gloria (James) Erkins and Evie Perteet, all of Milwaukee, \Visconsin, Diann Mance of Kosciusko, Mississippi and Norma Reid of Camden, Mississippi; three brothers, Leonard Perteet, Jr. and Donnie Perteet, both of Kosciusko, Mississippi anford Perteet ofJoliet, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Yolanda Campbell; three brothers, John, James and Donald Perteet; her mother and father, Geneva and Leonard Perteet; and stepmother, Susie Perteet. Many special friends, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws will cherish her memory and treasure her spirit forever. "Come to me ... and I will give you rest." -Mattbeui 11:28
