Mrs. Bertha Lee Bentley

Bertha Lee (Williams) Bentley was born September 21, 1954, to Henry and Rachel Williams, in Monroe, Louisiana. Bertha graduated from Lincoln High School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She furthered her education at Cardinal Stritch University and received her Bachelor Of Science Degree in Business Management/Human Resources Management, August of 2014, GPA,3.50. Bertha attended Christian Union Missionary Baptist Church, accepted Christ as her Savior, and was baptized, by Reverend Paul McHenry. She was active in the church, taught Bible School and was the director of the Adult Choir. She loved serving in the church and she loved God. Bertha was a devoted mother to her children, Latisha, Jamie, and Rashad. She was also devoted to and loved dearly all of her nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Bertha Lee Williams was united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Michael Bentley on March 26, 2005, in Waukegan, Illinois. Michael and Bertha love to cook for their family and friends. Everyone enjoyed feasting on their delicious dinners and barbeques. Spending time with her family was the high light of her life. She loved sewing, cooking, puzzles, traveling and community involvement and activities. Bertha was hired by the Milwaukee Police Department in March of 2000, as an Office Assistant, at District Four and Human Resources. She was promoted to Office Assistant IV and assigned to the Community Services Division. There she assisted in Crime Prevention Division, Neighborhood Block Watch clubs, organizing the Citizen's and Youth Academy. She worked with the Exchange Club, awarding police officers, citizens, and businesses for their heroic deeds, as well as community involvement. She aided and help many community organizers, city agencies, block watch clubs and police officers with disseminating crime prevention materials and pamphlets. She as well as her grandchildren participated in the Police Athletic League, (P.A.L) which helped at risk youth to stay out of trouble, some of which became professional athletes, and came back to the community and assisted P.A.L. She was loved and cherished by everyone who met and came to know her. Her smile was infectious and never ending. Her Milwaukee Police family loved her dearly. In 2017, she transferred to the Employees Retirement System, as a Payroll Specialist, until she became ill in June of 2017. Bertha Lee (Williams) Bentley departed this life on November 1, 2017. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Henry Lee Williams Sr, and Racheal Gissendiner, brother, Michael Williams; and nephew, Anthony Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, Michael Bentley; three children, Latisha Williams, Jamie Hardin, and Rashad Hardin, all of Milwaukee, WI; four brothers, Henry (Roshell) Williams, (Houston, Texas), Bruce Williams, Raymond Williams, and Jermaine Williams; three sisters, Joyce Lane, Vicky Williams, and Sally Williams all of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
