Mrs. Bertha M. Thompson

Bertha was born to the union of 'Eiizabeth. and John Henry Williams in Indianola, Mississippi on February 10,1939. She was the 12th child of fourteen. Bertha's formal education was in Mississippi in the public school system. She moved to Milwaukee WI in 1956 and received further education at Milwaukee Vocational School known today as Milwaukee Area Technical college - MATC. Bertha pursued many job opportunities but will be remembered for the 27 years she spent as a Rehabilitation Aide at Sacred Heart Rehabilitation Hospital. She will also be remembered for the many elderly people that she cared for until God took her home. Bertha had and did a wonderful job raising six beautiful children, she had the opportunity of one marriage to the late James E. Thompson. Bertha truly loved the Lord, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Her favorite Bible story was 'Footprints in the Sand', her favorite prayer was 'The Lord's Prayer" and her favorite scripture was John 14:1-6 ... Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you un-to myself that where I am there ye may be also. And whither I go ye Know and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord we Know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. Bertha was a life long, dedicated member of Morris Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop W. L. Morris, she continued her loyalty under the late Pastor Garnett Herron, and then under pastor Micaiah J. Young and the now present Bishop SedgwicK Daniels. Bertha only wanted to serve her god and do His will, she also served on the Mother's Board known as Mother Thompson, she always had a smile, a kind word or a hug for whomever she met. Mother Thompson was always there to help those in need, even if it was her last. Bertha loued woking in her vegetab[e garden and later in just her flower garden. She just loved to spend time outside on pleasant days, whether it was to walk, play with the grandchildren, talk with family & neighbors or just to simply sit quietly and observe her surroundings. On Sunday, April 1st, 2018 - Resurrection Sunday, God took Bertha's hand and said Come Go With Me. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, Her daughters: Janice Williams & Jacqueline (Milton) Allen: Her sons: Joseph Williams, Mark E. Williams, Tony Thompson, all of Milwaukee, WI; Ten grandchildren: Montrelle Williams, Channing Williams, Shakina Williams, Alexis Monroe; Tashell Gatlin, Branden Herker, Toni Gatlin, Anthony Gatlin, Isis Allen, Panachea Thompson; Ten Great-grandchildren: Keyshawn Williams, Marion Williams, Abigail Downey, Solicia Williams, Khamari Williams, Cameron Williams and sibling Gabriel Monroe, Marcell Strong, Amyra Brown; her sisters Ira C. Jones and Dorothy M. Roosevelt Cooper and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and dear friends. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents: Elizabeth Mosley and John Henry Williams, her brothers, Julius Moore, Alvert C. Rodgers, Johnnie Rodgers, Phillip Rodgers, joe L. Mosley; Her sisters Virginia Freeman, Rhody Barnett and Dolliline Johnson. Bertha will be remembered as a very loving, generous, gentle and compassionate woman of God.
