Ms. Bertha Ruth Troutman

Bertha Ruth Troutman was born on May 17, 1936, in Marshallville, Georgia, to Naomi and Ecotrice Rumph. She was united in marriage to Clarence Benjamin Troutman, and she lived a life rooted in faith, family, strength, and unmistakable style. Bertha dedicated many years to Allen-Bradley, where she worked faithfully until her retirement in 1992, after 34 years of service. Her strong work ethic and commitment extended beyond her career and into every aspect of her life. She was a woman who found joy in life's simple and meaningful moments. She loved to sing and listen to old spiritual music, especially the music and ministry of Jimmy Swaggart. Early in life, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, crocheting, and later she found joy in watching sports. As a faithful member at McGovern Park Senior Center, you could find her playing spades and beating most people on the pool table - she was our pool shark! She cherished long conversations on the phone with her sisters, family, and friends, and never turned down a good, home-cooked meal. More than anything, Bertha deeply admired her children and grandchildren. She took great pride In their lives, their growth, and their accomplishments. She offered wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support, always wanting the very best for them. Her love was both spoken and demonstrated, steady, present, and deeply felt. Bertha believed in looking good and feeling good every single day. Known for her signature red lipstick, she wore it unapologetically, whether it was a special occasion or just another day. She had a love for gold jewelry, beautiful fur coats, and always dressed to the nines when the moment called for it. Simply put, she didn't step out halfway. Bertha spoke her mind and stood firm in her beliefs. At times blunt and feisty, at other times humorous and lighthearted; she taught hard lessons, but always from a place of love. She covered her family in prayer and remained a constant source of strength, guidance, and protection. In her later years, Bertha faced health challenges with determination, grace, and admirable strength. She was preceded in death by her son Bernard Troutman Ross; siblings: Burea James Marshall, Earnest Rumph, Cleo Beverly, Curtis Rumph, and Ann Rumph Parks; her son-in-law Willie J. Talton, and three brothers-in-law: Dan Williams, Thomas Law, and Mitchell Land. Bertha leaves to cherish her memory her children: Enola Gay Ross (Willie) (GA), Karen Denise Talton (GA), Tracy Troutman, and Bridgett Franklin; her loving siblings: Doris Williams Law (GA), Iris Land (GA), and Mable Rumph (NYC); sisters-in-law, Mattie Troutman Gordon (GA) and Louise Ruml/h (GA); brother-in-law, Dr. Roy M. Troutman, and a lifetime of extended family and cherished friends. Bertha's legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren: Lakenya Beagles Harris (Morrell" Daris Simmons, Lacey Ross Corbin (Antonio), Thales Talton, Xavier Talton, Monissa Talton Denis, Santana Troutman, Samantha Mitchell, and Jessica Franklin; 24 great & great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
