Mrs. Betty Jean Wright

Mrs. Betty Jean Funches Wright was born in Oak Grove, Mississippi on August 28 in a very special year. She was the fourth child born to Clarence Louis Funches, Sr., and Frankie Lee Funches. Betty gave her life to the Lord in her youth and, by the laying on of hands, was filled with the Holy Spirit. She graduated from Simmons High School in Hollandale, Mississippi, where she excelled in administration and was known for her shorthand skills. She was hired as the school secretary. Growing up, Betty was known to be an excellent hairdresser. She inherited Dad's great singing ability and loved to bellow out songs. Betty chose to remain in Mississippi for a year until her sister, Desmar, graduated high school. After Desmar graduated, they relocated to Milwaukee to be with their sister, Dorothy. Betty and Desmar worked for several of the same employers. At one of the companies, Betty met her future sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Wright Johnson. They became close friends. When Johnnie Mae's brother, Cesley Wright, [r., returned home from the military, Johnnie Mae introduced him to Betty, whom he found difficult to resist. They were united in holy matrimony in 1968, and to this marriage was born one child, Cesley Wright III. They fostered two daughters, Regina and Penelope (Penny). Betty was employed at the Allen Bradley Company for 37 years, and was a supervisor when she retired. Betty and Desmar worked together for this company, and retired together in a joint celebration. Betty majored in Business Administration at MATC and Concordia University. Betty joined Mason Temple Church of God in Christ in 1977 under the leadership of Bishop P. J. Henderson and later Bishop Osie Tatum, Jr. She served as an usher, and was secretary in the Education Department. She loved to worship the Lord in songs. Her favorite artist was Candi Staton. Betty witnessed to many souls. This kingdom work will be credited to her account. Betty rransitioned from this life to new life November 14, 2018 at 9:40 a.m. Her presence will be greatly missed! She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Frankie Funches; Husband, Cesley Wright, Jr., Sisters: Bernice and Dorothy; Brother: Joseph; Stepbrother and Stepsister: Herbert and Wealtha. Betty leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory: one son, Cesley (Nyree), Milwaukee, WI; two daughters: Regina, Las Vegas, NV; Penelope (Matthew), Leland, MS; five brothers: Clarence, Jr. Leesville, LA; Roy (Alma), Chicago, IL; Willie (Frances), Oak Park, IL; James Earl (Opal), Brown Deer, WI; Fragier (Sarah), River Forest, IL; Elwood A: (Lillian), Chicago, IL; three sisters: Desmar(Calvin)Bruce, Brown Deer, WI; Janice (John) Tucker, River Hills, WI; Shirley (Willie)Tucker, Milwaukee, WI; one stepsister, Ada F. Carter, ltta Bena, MS; sixteen grandchildren: Ma'Niya, Yazrnine, Cesley IV, Cevairiz, Cemyron, Nyla, Nyomi, Christian, Nathan, Braden, Brendan, Shania, Keshawn, Prince, Quinn, Quinnari. She leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, close friends, special friends, Avera Sinclair and Lena Gill, and a special sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Johnson (Willie).
