Mr. Bobby J. Newton

Bobby J. Newton was born February 23, 1941 in New Albany, Mississippi. His parents, Qulices and Jewdean Newton provided Bobby, as well as his father, John Franklin with the nurturing and guidance needed to hurdle life's challenges; Bobby was very proud to be their son. Bobby received his foundational training in New Albany and was introduced to Christ at a young age. He received his formal education in the New Albany Mississippi School system. As a young child, his family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Bobby continued his education in the Milwaukee Public School System. Bobby was one of the first two African American young men to attend Rufus King High School. He became a star basketball player and played on the team his freshman and sophomore year. He returned to New Albany Mississippi in his junior year and attended B.F. Ford High School and joined the Varsity Basketball team, graduating in May 1964. Bobby's life forever changed when he met the love of his life at B.F. Ford High School, Mary Catherine Sanford.They were united in holy matrimony and spent over a half-century in marital bliss. Their union of 51 years was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Bridget and Jocelyn the "apples of his eye". Seeking a better life and to be near his mother, Bobby returned to Milwaukee Wisconsin. He was gainfully employed at Briggs and Stratton as a Material Handler and Die Cast Operator. In 1987, Bobby became a member ofMt. Calvary Holy Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Gertrude Pitts. Life should be measured not by the number of years, but rather by the love shared, the memories made, the joy given and the blessings received. Bobby's life was full and his friends were many. He loved his wife and family and will be missed by all whom lives he touched. On March 26.2015, God in His infinite wisdom transitioned Bobby from his earthly home to his eternal home. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife of 51 years, Mary Catherine; two loving daughters, Bridget and Jocelyn Newton; mother, Jewdean Newton of New Albany, Mississippi; best friend, Virgil Stevens; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and a host of cousin other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his fathers, John Franklin, and Qulices Newton, and his aunt Ozell.
