A woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and boundless love, Catherine lived a life devoted to God, family, and service to others. Born and raised in Eutaw, Alabama, Catherine she learned the values that would guide her life-faith, humility, hard work, and love for family. On September 28, 1946, she married Jeff Crawford Sr., in Carrollton, Alabama. Together, they built a legacy rooted in devotion, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to family. Milwaukee, Wisconsin became their longtime home, where Catherine spent the majority of her life nurturing generations and touching countless hearts. Catherine was the proud and loving mother of five children: Saleem (Olivia) El-Amin, Douglas (Rosemary) Crawford, Frederick (Michelle) Crawford, Geneva Crawford-Atkins, and Esther (Willie) Morgan. Her love extended far beyond her immediate household-she was a mother, grandmother, and matriarch in every sense of the word. In her early years, Catherine worked outside the home in various roles, including positions at St. Luke's Hospital, EZ Painters, and Milwaukee Brush Company. Yet her greatest life's work was caring for her family- often extending herself far beyond her own five children. A gentle, kind, nurturing, and deeply loving woman, Catherine had a way of making everyone feel seen, safe, and cared for. Her presence was calm yet powerful, her strength quiet but unshakable. She was known throughout her family not only for her warm spirit but also for her famous "dressing," a dish that became a tradition, and a sought-after recipe. Above all, Catherine was a woman of unwavering faith in Christ. She was the family's prayer warrior, faithful, consistent, and steadfast. Her life was a living testimony of trust in God, even though life's challenges. She was a devoted member of St. Matthew CME Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she worshiped and served faithfully. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeff Crawford Sr.; her parents, George Scarbrough and Minnie Ester Green; her sisters, Lula B. Shanklin, Inez Boswell, and Bernice Barr-Willson; and her brother, Abraham Scarbrough. She leaves to cherish her memory, her five children, one brother Levi Scarbrough; one sister Minnie Laura Hinton, nine grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Catherine Crawford's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will continue to guide and sustain her family for generations to come.
