Mrs. Charelene Cartwright

Charlene Burton Cartwright was born in Helena, Arkansas on May 10, 1943 to the union of Charles Burton, Sr. and the late Rosie Lee Burton (special acknowledgement to (Julia Mae Burton). Charlene was a Graduate of BookerT. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee. She furthered lier education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she attended Milwaukee Area Technical College. Charlene accepted Christ as her Savior at Bethesda ,Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor R.V Bates, Sr. Charlene was a committed member of Bethesda for many; many years as a dedicated Christian Woman. Her Devotion was distinguished among several ministries in the church. She offered her assistance as a greeter, a Sunday school teacher, a hostess/server during various functions that were held at church. Charlene continued to do whatever her hands would find to do, as she extended her membership to Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Reverend John K. Patterson. Charlene was united with Herbert Davenport. From this union their beautiful daughter Velveeta was born. Later Charlene moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Charlene was united in holy matrimony with Joe Cartwright on February 14, 2000 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They remained a loving couple until Joe's death. Charlene acquired employment with P and H Harnischfeger in the blueprinting department. Charlene later retired from P and H Harnischfeger after being employed twenty plus years. Charlene was very compassionate about assisting the ederly in the building where she resided. God equipped Charlene with resources that were needed to assist many members of her family when they became ill. Charlene was affectionately known as "momma", "Miss Dav", "Char", Charlene, and Sister Cartwright. She was a dependable, warm hearted woman of God. She could always put a smile on someone's face. She was a WILLING WORKER! She will be truly missed. Charlene Burton Cartwright departed from this life on September 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Rosie Lee Burton; her devoted husband, Joe Cartwright; her stepmother, Julia Mae Burton; two sisters, Jean Morgan and Linda Burton Crawford; and her uncle, James Davis. Charlene leaves to cherish her memory; her-daughter, Velveeta "Val" (Thomas) Stokes, two granddaughters, Sydnei and Cortney Stokes; father, Charles Burton Sr., two brothers, Charles Burton Jr. and Theodis Burton; two sisters, Joanna Burton and Gloria (Tyrone) Dixon all from Milwaukee, WI; three aunts, Mary (David) Jenkins of Brown Deer, WI, Gloria (Emmanuel) Berry, Sue Davis, L.V. Davis, Deola Davis and Duke Boy all from Memphis, TN; one brother-in-law, Luther (Moe) Cartwright from Milwaukee, WI; one special niece-in-law; Barbara Cattwright (Robert) Harris.and a host of.nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
