Mr. Clarence Kern, Jr.

Clarence Kern, Jr. was born to the union of Clarence Kern, Sr. and Mae Kern on April 9, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Clarence accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church; he later moved his membership to Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. W. J. Calvin. Clarence Jr. received his formal education within the Milwaukee Public School System, graduating from North Division High School in 1971. He went on to further his education at MATC participating in an apprenticeship program to become a journeyman machinist. Clarence Jr. who followed in his father's footsteps became a machinist with the Falk Corporation in 1986, where he was an employee for 14 1/2 years. Then one day Clarence decided he needed a change, a change in professions and became an operator with the Milwaukee County Transit System where he was a dedicated and committed employee until his retirement in October 2006. Clarence Jr. was a affectionately known as "Junior' "Kern" and "CJ" and sometimes Clarence James, a name he had given himself because he always wanted a middle name. CJ was very collective, reserved, funny and ambitious; a person that everyone always wanted around especially when there were family functions. He was loved by all that came in contact with him. He was always dressed to impress for any occasion and his presence will be truly missed. His favorite story to tell was how he purchased his first pair of shoes using the money he earned as a grocery store clerk, shoes that cost him $20.00 and that he was so proud to have purchased himself, shoes his father thought were too expensive so he made CJ return them to the store; you should have seen the look on his CJ' s face it was totally priceless! Clarence was united in holy matrimony to Sherri Morgan Kern on June 16, 2000. Clarence was a loving and caring husband and father and showed his love for his family until his illness journeyed him home to his eternal resting place on February 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Kern Sr.; and his grandson, Shawn Christopher Kern. Clarence leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Sherri; mother, Mae Kern; sister, Geneva Clark Cole (David); brother, Billie Rice (Carla); daughters, LaQuanda, Cheree and Sheila; sons, Godfrey and Brandon; aunts, Beatrice Fastaw and Florida Linda Witherspoon (Bishop John) of Las Vegas; uncles, Jessie Kern of Mississippi and Henry Cleveland of Wisconsin; and a host of many relatives and friends.
