Mrs. Cleophia V. Hopper

Cleophia Velma "Cleo" Hopper was born on September 20, 1936 to the union of Deomie and David Reynolds, in Helena, Arkansas. She moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 7 years old. She attended Milwaukee Public Schools and graduated from North Division High School. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member for over 60 years. Cleo proudly served on the Mother's Board Ministry and Sunday School Ministry~ She was one of the original members of the Hot Meal Program under Deacon Norton and a special gifted caregiver in the Children's Nursery. As a result of her generous, calm spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved and respected by many. Her Christian life was like the Proverbs 31 woman, "she was more precious than jewels and hard to find; she was rare and very valuable; she took excellent care of her family and utilized her time wisely." Cleo worked as a childcare provider for more than 40 years until she retired. She treated each and everyone of the children as if they were her own. She had the patience and faith of "Job" and she referred to the children she cared for as "her babies." Cleo truly loved children. She was affectionately called "Ms. Hopper" by her grandchildren and other family members' children she kept. She always found an opportunity to interact with children. In her leisure, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, attending church events and spending time with her family. Cleophia Velma "Cleo" Hopper quietly departed this life on Monday, June 21, 2021 at home with family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Calhound; son, Kevin Hopper; mother, Deomie Reynolds; father, David T. Reynolds; grandmother, Francis Wilder; sister, Othella Lewis; and brother, Arary Reynolds. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of: her children, Brenda (Jason) McCord and Timothy Hopper, both of Milwaukee, WI, Chester (Gwen) Hopper, Jr. of Dallas, GA; brothers, David (Beverly) Reynolds, Epluribus "EC" Reynolds and Donald (Kathy) Reynolds, all of Milwaukee, WI, Homer (Kay) Reynolds of Melbourne, Australia; cousin/brother, William (Pat) Orange; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; her only living aunt, Maxine Wilder; special cousins in (Ft. Wayne) Indiana, Ohio and Florida; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
