Mrs. Cora Bell Coleman

On December 15, 1919 in Brighton, Tennessee Cora Bell Coleman was born the third of nine children to the late Mrs. Mary Bell Davis Cullin and Mr. Ciscero Cullin. She received her formal education through the Brighton Tennessee Public School System. At an early age, she received her spiritual training and accepted Christ as her Lord and savior at the "old" Shiloh Baptist Church in Brighton, Tennessee. As a result of two marriages, Cora birthed eleven children. She was blessed with six children during her first marriage. She was also blessed with another five children during her second marriage. In the early 1970's Cora Bell decided to re locate to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to make a new life for herself and her children. She was a homemaker, but in her earlier years she did some domestic work, and upon her arrival in Milwaukee she worked for Cameo Restaurant as a waitress/ cook. She was an awesome cook. She was known for her Sweet Potato pies and her Dressings. Cora enjoyed gardening and planting both fruits and vegetables. She grew big tomato plants and cabbage in her yard. Her home would remind you of a jungle with all of the green plants and vines. Spring and summer months were her favorite seasons as she enjoyed being in the yard and sitting on the porch. Cora was blessed with a "green thumb." She enjoyed watching TV including game shows and gospel programs. Some of her favorite shows being: The Price Is Right, Jeopardy, The Wheel of Fortune, and Bobby Jones. She also enjoyed some Reality TV with series on Bravo and HGTY. Shc loved music, the blues - especially BB king and gospel music - Rance Allen and Shirley Caesar. Cora also had a great sense of humor and was quite "feisty." Cora was a well reserved, a private and quiet person. She loved and cared for her family deeply - She loved and always shared a special bond with her sibITngs. Her baby brother Johnnie B. was her favorite, they always had each others back. The Lord blessed her to have a long, beautiful and healthy life full of many laughs and great memories. What a Blessing!! Cora Bell took her flight to her new home on Febuary 09, 2016. She was preceded in cieath by her parents: Mrs. Mary Bell Davis Cullin and Mr. Ciscero Cullin; three sons: Willie C. Boyd, James W. Boyd, and Fentriess Boyd; three sisters: Minnie Clyde Pugh, Wilma Cullin and Lorine Facey; two brothers: Vernon Cullin and Willie Cullin. One granddaughter, one great -granddaughter and four grandsons. Cora was the matriarch of the Coleman Iamilv. She.leaves to cherish her precious memories: four daughters; Ann Alston, Mary G. Boyd, Gail Coleman, and Eva Coleman; three sons; Joe athan Coleman Jr., Larry Coleman (Willette) Coleman and Vernon (Sylvia) Coleman. Two sisters Ernestine Foster and Florine Richardson. One brother; Johnnie B (Katherine) Cullin, Thity one grandchildren, fifty two great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren, As well as a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Cora had two special great grandchildren so tender in age to understand this loss of love, but surely know their great grandma loved them dearly - Joi Williams and Morgan Martin. Cora had a special friend, Diane Stacey who truly loved and cared for our Mom. Cora also had a special relationship with her daughter Gail as they lived together all of their lives. She was not only a mother, but she was also her best friend. The unconditional and self-less love and care Gail provided Cora the last months of her life cannot go unspoken. The bond they built through their lifetime speaks for itself. She will be greatly missed near and far!
