Ms. Cynthia Mae Sablica

Cynthia Mae Sablica departed this world on July 5, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV. She was born on August 8, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Carl Andrew Ross and Minnie Rodgers. Cynthia was preceded in death by her two sons; Reginald Tremayne Cephus and Jarvis Montreal Cephus, both of Milwaukee, WI, and one daughter, Regjara Rene Cephus-Johnson (Quincy) of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Ke'Shya Austin-Cephus, D'Naija Austin-Cephus, Melinda Hamilton, Cynai Cephus, Elijah Cephus, Desiree Cephus, Kyrin Cephus, and Reginald Cephus, Jr.; eight sisters; Laverne Joyner, Jacqueline Wigley, Pamela Williams (Terry), Rochelle Ross, Carolyn Rodgers, Sylvia Rodgers, Maxine Rodgers, and Patricia Rodgers; two brothers, Nathaniel Penn and Gerald Penn. Cynthia leaves to cherish a large family including one uncle, John William Harper and many, many cousins, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and friends who adored her. In her early years, Cynthia gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI. She attended Victor L. Burger Elementary School, Parkman JHS, and Rufus King HS. She participated in many talent shows, receiving standing ovations; was a member of The Gospel Messengers choir and The Ross Brothers choir travelling from church to church singing the Gospel of God. Cynthia was the winner of the Black Teen Miss pageant and Kothi Dance Company member which allowed her the opportunity to visit Africa where she was given the name, Titilola Adeke. She was a wonderful choreographer who enjoyed being a dancer and the performing arts. She won many trophies for pecket billiards (pool) Cynthia attended Milwaukee Area Technical College where she earned a certificate in Surgical Technology; and Cardinal Stritch College (Glendale, WI), Concordia University (Mequon, WI), and Carthage College (Kenosha, WJ) where she eventually earned a Bachelor's Degree in the Science of Nursing. Cynthia wore many hats throughout her more than 30- year tenure in the nursing field, having served as a Director of Nursing, CPR Instructor, Nurse Educator, and more. She stated that being an educator was her favorite part of her nursing career. She was good at her job and relished in helping others. In 1999, Cynthia relocated to Las Vegas, NV where she lived until her untimely departure from this world. Wihile there, she worked quite hard as a nurse. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing the slots at Santa Fe Station Casino, exercising, watching videos, MSNBC news, music, and shopping. Especially for clothes. She had a talent for decorating and dressing "nice but cheap." She was creative and preferred to be different from all others. Cynthia had a wonderful sense of humor but knew how to be stern and professional at the same time. She was a no-nonsense type of person but would offer help to anyone who needed it. For over 45 years, she gave to those in need as well as many charities including women's shelters, FEMA, the Salvation Army, Children's Cancer Research organizations, various schools, churches, and more. Cynthia had a strong belief in the power of prayer and stressed the importance of having a deep relationship with God. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed by everyone she touched and the memories will be cherished forever more.
