Ms. Da'Keonna E. Herring

Da'Keonna Elaine Herring was born on January 9, 1985 to the union of Dinah L. Nelson and Anthony C. Herring in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Da'Keonna attended Beautiful Savior Lutheran School, Christ Memorial Lutheran School, and Riverside University High School. While at Riverside she was also a part of Marquette University's Upward Bound program. She then attended the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She also attended the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse, where she earned her Master's Degree at the top of her class. During her time at La Crosse, she completed a 6 month internship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. It was during this time that she discovered her love of traveling - she traveled from Alaska to Hawaii and all the states in between. Da'Keonna became quite the adventurer. After graduating from La Crosse, she worked at Gunderson Health System where she made countless friendships with all of the lives she touched. She then moved to Dallas, Texas in 2019 where she started at the University of Dallas as an Assistant Athletic Trainer. After excelling at this role, she decided to take on something new at Scottish Rite for Children where she worked as a Physician Extender. While in Dallas, she made countless friendships that we are all so grateful for. In her leisure time, she enjoyed dancing, hiking, traveling, eating other people's cooking, reading, and spending time with her loved ones. Da'Keonna departed life on Friday October 20,2023. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her. She is preceded in death by her great grandparents James Garther Todd Sr, Fannie Bell Todd, John T. Nelson, and Nellie Nelson; grandparents: Calvin and Lula V. Nelson, as well as her uncle Raymond L. Nelson. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Dinah L. Nelson, her stepfather Kim Johnson, her grandmother, Thelma Quinn, her sisters: Angelica C. Herring and Antwanita L. Cruickshank, her nieces and nephews: Amirre M. Semons, Alanna R. Herring, Aniya B. Ross, NyMoura A. Wilbur, Jovan Hatchett Jr and Jaidyn A. Payne; one brother, Jovan Hatchett, her aunts: Pamela L. Nelson - Martin, Florence E. Nelson, Darlene Hill, and Thomasena R. Jennings; her cousins: Destiny C. McCullough, Grace McCullough, Kairos McCullough, Alexandria S. Frazier, Jacoby N. Frazier, Jerel R. Williams, Ezekiel Epps, Paris Richardson, Londyn Bailey, Reign A. Grizzell, Zuri Perry, Patrice K. Harrell Jr. Erin C. Nelson, Eva S. Gladney - Nelson, Jade A. McMiller, Melody L. Mason, Chloe N. Anderson, her Godparents, Bishop Phillip Simpson, Tina Simpson, and Theonita Bedford; and a host of other friends and family.
