Ms. Dessa Maria Jones

Dessa Maria Jones was born on December 13,1961, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the union of John and Frankie Jones. Dessa was a class act. She was full of life and ambition. Dessa was known for her fashion and gregarious personality. She never met a stranger. She left an indelible impression on all those who knew her. To know her was to love her. As an astute businesswoman who established and managed a business within Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dessa was known by countless individuals throughout the city. Of the many roles that she played, she was most fulfilled by being the Mother of her two daughters Felisha and Yvette, and the proud grandmother to Nicholas and a bonus grandson Michael. Dessa was educated in the Milwaukee Public School system and graduated from Rufus King High School. She was an avid reader and constantly in pursuit of knowledge. Dessa furthered her education by attending Milwaukee Area Technical College and Alverno College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. Dessa enjoyed an extensive professional career having worked within the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Paychex, and GE Healthcare as a " consultant, and Emergency Management Recovery Agent at the FEMA Department of homeland security. Dessa was well-traveled. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was the life of the party. Many would say that if Dessa wasn't there, it wasn't the same. Dessa was raised in a Christian home and was a lifelong member of The Church of God in Christ. No matter where her path in life took her, she always remembered her Christian foundation. In 2011 Dessa had a major health crisis that changed the course of her life forever. Perhaps she could relate to the Apostle Paul when he encountered Jesus while traveling on the Damascus road. According to her, after God healed her from cancer and many other health conditions, she made a vowel to the Lord that she would serve Him wholeheartedly for the rest of her life. At that time she rededicated her life to Christ and Joined Morris Cathedral Life Center Church of God in Christ under the Leadership of Superintendent Micaiah J. Young Sr. She later transitioned from Morris Cathedral and became a Charter member of The' Life Center Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Micaiah J. Young Sr. Dessa was a willing worker. She served on many committees in the Church including hospitality, Sunday School teacher, missionary circle, and the choir. Dessa's graceful and poised demeanor caused her to be noticed within the Adjutancy Core of Wisconsin First Jurisdiction under the Leadership of General Board Member, Bishop Sedgwick Daniels, where she served as a faithful adjutant sister for many years. Because of Her love for serving God's people, she attended the National Adjutants Academy for the Church of God in Christ and became a certified National Adjutant Sister. Dessa could be found serving the leadership of the Church of God in Christ during many of the National Conventions annually. She was always so proud to serve, but no assignment given to her in the adjutancy diminished her commitment to assisting her spiritual mother, Supervisor Cecelia WiLLiams-Young. Dessa would often say that God assigned her to serve Mother Young, and she did just that from out-of-town revivals and conferences to local services and speaking engagements, Mother Young could always depend on Dessa to accompany her and assist however she could. Of all of Dessa Maria Jones's accomplishments and aspirations, she would say that accepting Jesus as her Lord and Savior was her absolute greatest accomplishment. And since that time, her daily pursuit was to live a life that would lead her to spend eternity with The Lord. On Friday, February 24, 2023, God rewarded Dessa Maria Jones for her faithfulness to him, by peacefully ushering her into glory, where she will spend eternity around the heavenly throne. Dessa was preceded in death by her father John Jones, brother Victor Jones, brother John Jones Jr. Sister, Evelyn Jones. Dessa leaves to cherish her memories two daughters Felisha and Yvette Nelson, her mother Frankie Jones, sisters Sandra Jones and Loretta Jones-Taylor, brother Charles Jones, grandson Nicholas Smith, a bonus grandson Michael, two special "little darlings" Hannah and Micaiah Jr. (MJ) Young, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
