Mr. Dewitt Hadnot Jr.

On Wednesday, August 12,2020, DeWitt Hadnot. Jr. was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was 92 years young and lived a long, prosperous life. He will surely be missed by his family and friends. As a loving husband, father, uncle, brother and son, DeWitt was always looking out for others, going above and beyond to meet the needs of his family and friends. DeWitt was an avid reader, learner, world traveler, connesuire of antique cars and do-it-yourself projects. His life began in Silsbee, Texas, being born on Christmas Day in 1927 to his father DeWitt Hadnot. Sr. and mother, Estella William. In 1946, DeWitt graduated salutatorian from Waldo Fraser Matthew High School. That same year, at 19 years of age, DeWitt enlisted in the army and served in World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal for his service. A few years after the war, DeWitt wed his lovely wife Hazel Smart on June 15, 1954 and the two have been married for over 66 years. DeWitt left an amazing legacy of hard work, dedication and success having graduated from the Coyne Electrical and Radio School of Chicago, IL as well as receiving his bachelors of electrical engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering and a masters of electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison. As a professionally licensed electrical engineer, DeWitt received numerous awards and certifications such as being inducted into the National Society of Professional Engineers for the state of Wisconsin. Some of DeWitt's most notable jobs include working for the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company as a control systems engineer. After 15 years of service at Schlitz, DeWitt began working as a control systems engineer at The Dial Corporation. He finally retired, as a senior electrical engineer and assistant general manager at the age of 70, after having worked for over 20 years at Dial. DeWitt was a faithful member of st. Philips Lutheran Church under the leadership of Pastor Raymond Burke. As a member of st. Philips, DeWitt served as a member of the board of elders. Later in life, DeWitt became a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. DeWitt is preceded in death by his parents, DeWitt Hadnot. Sr. and Estella William, his brother Ira Hadnot. his sister Luedesta James, his daughter Mary Hadnot, and his son Rodney Earl Hadnot. DeWitt is survived by his wife Hazel Hadnot. his daughter Pamela Malone-Webster (Herman "Barn"), his grandson Melvin Luckett- Hadnot. his granddaughters Andrea Reid (Kevin) and Theresa Chada-Hadnot. and his 7 great-grandchildren: Semaj Hadnot. Melvin Hadnot Jr., Saniyah Hadnot. Salae Hadnot. Savion Hadnot. Kristina Reid, and Rachel Reid.
