Mrs. Dora Lee Wattleton

Dora l. Wattleton was born on on June 18, 1928, to the union of Mid and Jessie Harrell in Luverne, Alabama where she grew up. She was the fifth of eleven children. She was educated at the High School of Luverne School of Training. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Valley Church in Luverne. Soon she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to live with her sister, Daisy Wright. Shortly after moving, she started attending Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she met her beloved William Wattleton. They were united in holy matrimony on December 4, 1954. To this union five children were born. Two were deceased at birth. She started working at the Doctor's Hospital as a Nurse's Aide. While there, she was encouraged to get her Practical Nursing License because she was so good at her job. She worked there for 17 years. She later pursued a career in education and attended Alverno College. She graduated with a degree as a ParaprofessionaL She began working for Milwaukee Public Schools at Keefe Avenue Elementary SchooL While working at Keefe Avenue, she was also a Girl Scout Leader for approximately three years. Later, she worked at Parkman Junior High School, but after two years she decided to go to Marshall High SchooL She retired from Marshall High School in 1990. During her years of working she was a wonderful wife and mother. Dora was known for her fabulous melt in your mouth homemade rolls, buttermilk fried chicken and her velvety butter pound cake. Cousins, nieces, nephews and friends would corne far and near when they heard she was making her special dishes. Dora was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and a great grandmother. She was preceded in death and now joins her parents, Mid and Jessie Harrell; her sisters, Daisy Wright, Margaret Bel,l and Justine Harrell; her brothers, Mid [r., O'Neal, Harvey, Roy and Mitchell Harrell. She leaves behind, her loving husband, William (Bill) Wattleton; their children, Dorethea Booker, Preston Wattleton and Marion Stacey Scott (Derrick); sisters, Ruth Sears and Ethel Bandy (Marvin); grandchildren, Derek Strickland, Tiera Strickland, Isaiah Booker, Deresia Chelsea Scott, Desmond Scott and Devon Scott; great grandchildren, Alexis Strickland, Miracle Strickland, and Zari Reynolds; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
