Mr. Dwight Eugene Crayton

To the union of James Howard and Monedea (Graham) Crayton a "good looking" (that's how he referred to himself) baby boy was born in Corinth, MS on August 27, 1951. He was the fifth child of eight children and they named him Dwight Eugene Crayton. Dwight at the age of three years old moved with his parents and siblings to Mil- waukee, WI in 1955. He received his education in the Mil- waukee Public School System. Dwight attended Twentieth Street Elementary, Robert Fulton Junior High and graduated from North Division High School in June of 1969 where he earned his school letter playing on the Blue Devils' Tennis T earn. Dwight cherished his high school years and was a very sharp dresser. After graduating high school, Dwight attended the University o0f Wisconsin-Platteville. He was five credits short of graduating with a BA degree in Social Wel- fare. Promising to return back to school, to finish and get his degree. Dwight attended St. Luke Baptist Church in Corinth, MS with his parents and siblings. After moving to Milwau- kee with his parents, he united with Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ. He later united with Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, under the leader- ship of the late Rev. Herman Pryor. During his later years, he often called upon Reverend Aaron and Evg. Merdis Morgan to pray with him and for him. He thanked God every day for allowing him to see another day as he traveled through his battle with his illness. As a young teenager, along with his best friend Tony Canfield, Dwight's most enjoyable job was being a shoeshine . technician and handyman at Herbie Williams Continental Barber Shop on 19th and Center St. He was employed at Allis Chambers for many years as an Overhead Crane Opera- tor until they closed shop, he then moved to Tampa, Fl. Where he was employed at a Produce Company. When he returned back to Milwaukee he then worked for Hollandom Flower Shop and later at a transportation company. He worked hard until he became ill. Due to Dwight's failing health, he was moved to Mount View Nursing home in Wausau, WI. In March, 2013. Dwight made the most of his home away from home by meeting and making many friends during his two years there. Everybody pretty much knew who Dwight was. He enjoyed the Gaming nights, fishing trips, going out to eat, learning the computer, but most of all he en- joyed talking with the staff and the other patients. He brought joy to them and they gave him joy. The Lord was ready for Dwight and He called him home to live in his mansion. Dwight passed away at As- pirus Hospital, Wausau, WI on Sunday, March 15,2015. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Monedea Crayton and three sisters, Doris Gill, Brenda Ward and Lillie Wingo. Two brother-in-laws, Marshall Wingo and Clinton Gill. He leaves to cherish his memory: His daughters, Natisha Scott and Monedea Crayton, son, Dwight Eugene Crayton, II, all of Milwaukee, WI. Thirteen grandchil- dren; siblings, James (Curtixine) Muhammad, Vickey Crayton-Wilburn, Sheila (Darryel) Williams, and Kathy Crayton, all of Milwaukee, WI.; brother-in-law, Charles Ward.; aunts, Mary Garrett, Macon, GA, Eulla Graham, Zion, IL, Jeanie Kaye Smith, Champaign, IL; uncle, James Graham, Cincinnati, OH. Dear friends, Tony Canfield, Flossie Thorp, Mrs. Mattie French and Family, Hazel Moss, Barbara Jean McDade, Minnie Bowen, Wayne Carter and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dwight will be truly missed.
