Mr. Edward Cobb

Edward Lee Cobb was born on September 6, 1943, in Smackover, Arkansas to Ledell and Lois (Montgomery) Cobb, but was raised in El Dorado. He lived wit h his grandparents until Ill" was 12 years old and attended Fairview Elementary School. In 1955, he and his mother relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ed matriculated through the Milwaukee Public School system attending Lincoln High School where he excelled as a student athlete. He was a member of the varsity football and basketball teams and was crowned Homecoming King. He \I as a member of the first City or Milwaukee team to win a state championship. Upon graduation, I1f attended Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee. He married the 100'e of his life. Dolores, ill 1996. He was also the proud lather of Derick, Dennine, Erick, Niko, Tanya and Rashawn. Edward accepted Christ at all early age and attended New Bethel Baptist Church in Arkansas. He later attended Bethel Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was an ordained deacon, Chairman of the Deacon Board and a Sunday School Teacher. He then joined New Testament Church where he was active with the Men's Prayer Breakfast, served as a Greeter, and was a member of the Finance Committee .. Most recently, he was a member of Christ the King Baptist Church, where Rev. John McVicker, Sr. is pastor. He remained a committed member until his health would no longer allow him to attend services. Ed was an honorable member or the Armed Forces, proudly serving in the United States Army. He was employed at A.O. Smith as a machine operator for numerous years until his retirement. Eager to pursue' his dream of being an entrepreneur, Ed started his own business, Safety First # 1 Corporation, which specialized in lead abatement and asbestos removal. He was an approved minority contractor with the City of Milwaukee, He was also the owner of his own pub, The Dunes. Ed was an avid sports fan who supported his hometown teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and Green Bay Packers. Ed loved music, especially Frankie Beverlv and Maze and traveling. He also enjoyed grilling and making his famous collard greens. Above all, Edward was a family man and a devoted Christian who loved reading and talking about the Word of God. Edward Lee Cobb peacefully departed this life at Clement]. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Thursday, January 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ledell and Lois, and brother, Vernon W'ilbert. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Dolores (Owens) Cobb; six children, Derick Cobb and Dennine Smith of Mesquite, 'Lexas, Erick (Candice) Owens of Milwaukee, \ VI, Niko Owens of Milwaukee, WI, Tanya (Recoe) Gant of LugofI; SC, and Rashawn Cobb of Augusta, GA, 15 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Raulston of Burton, MI, Keith Cobb, Robbie Cobb-Byrd, and Vanessa Cobb of flint, Ml., Vickie Cobb- Woodyard and Jennifer ':\1cCo) of Atlanta, GA, and Carolyn Johnson of Chicago, IL; God daughter, Tanya Wade and God grandson,Jordan; special friends, Pete Sorce and Gil Sublett, and a host of friends and family.
