Mr. Edward C. Morgan

In 1950, Edward Morgan was born to Roxy Jackson and Louis Mason. He was raised in Strong, Arkansas and at a very young age, he developed a strong work ethic while working in the cotton fields. Around the age of eight, his oldest sister, Margie Powell, traveled to Arkansas to bring him to Milwaukee, where she raised him as one of her own. He attended the Milwaukee Public School System and later enrolled at Riverside High School. There, he excelled in wrestling, making it to the state competition, and also played football, becoming a talented athlete. He ultimately graduated from Riverside High School. Shortly after receiving his diploma, he began working at Longview Fiber Company, where he dedicated 42 years of hard work before retiring. During this time, he met Virginia Benton, and together they built a life, marrying and having three children: Charles Morgan, Christopher Morgan (wife Timeka) and Verlicia Morgan. From a previous relationship, he also had a daughter, Consuella Williams. Despite working 12-hour shifts every day and 8-hour shifts on Saturdays, he always made time to be a devoted husband and father, ensuring his family had everything they needed and wanted. Edward accepted Christ as his Savior and was united with Gethsemane Baptist Church. In his spare time, Edward enjoyed watching Green Bay Packers football and had a deep love for professional boxing. He also had a passion for fishing, often finding peace and enjoyment by the water, casting a line and appreciating the outdoors. Later in life, Edward married Lillian Carson and became a loving stepfather to her three children: Gwendolyn M.Cornelius Q., and Jasmine C. Byrd. He was a devoted grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a proud great-grandfather to one great-grandson. Edward was loved and respected by many. He is survived by his sisters, Margie Powell, Mitzi Gayle Gill, and Jean Mason; his four children, Charles Lamont Morgan, Christopher Morgan (wife Timeka), Verlicia Morgan, and Consuella Williams; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Roxy Jackson, and father, Louis Mason; his brothers, Fred Avery and Robert Morgan; and his sisters, Vanessa Jones and Barbara Jean Toilver.
