Mr. Elbert Carl Gaston

Elbert Carl Gaston was born on February 23, 1955 to the union of George and Dorthel Gaston in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Carl was a real "people's person" with a larger than life personality. Family came first for Carl and he was a protector of his family and the people he loved. His brothers and sisters referred to him as simply, "Big brother" and he cherished his position in his family. Carl accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. In his youth and as a young man he was a member of Tabernacle Community Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Carl attended the North Shore Theological Seminary in Lake County Illinois founded by Rev. Dr. B.J. Gaston, Pastor. Later, Carl became a faithful member of St. Timothy Community Baptist Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, under the leadership of Pastor Mose Fuller. He organized and chaired The Men's Ministry where he coordinated discussion groups and counseled young men about the beauty of Christian life. He willingly accepted other responsi- bilities at the request of his Pastor. Carl loved his church and his pastor. Carl received his formal education in the Milwaukee Public Schools and was a graduate of Washington High School. He actively participated on the Washington High School basketball team as a forward. Carl also played wide-receiver for the Washington High School football team. Carl was truly an "All-Star" athlete. He furthered his Education at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, majoring in Broadcasting/Mass Communication. In 1980, Carl cherished becoming the proud father of his baby girl Ebony, who was the "apple of his eye." Carl was employed by Durham School Services as a Bus Driver, providing transportation services for the Milwaukee Public School System. Carl truly enjoyed his responsibility to the youth, families and school community that relied on him to deliver their "precious children" to their respective homes to and from school. He jokingly talked about how he built relationships with the students, offering an opportunity to listen, encourage and inspire all children he came in contact with from kindergarten to high school; he always had a funny story to share. Both Carl and his dad co-founded C & G Lawn Service where they provided landscaping services during the summer season. In Carl's leisure, he enjoyed and loved western movies, the Family Feud with Steve Harvey and Politics Nation with Al Sharpton with his father and sister, Carolyn. He was an avid sports fan and some of his favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks and on occasion, the Chicago Bulls. During this year's NBA Finals Champion- ship, Carl was cheering on the Miami Heat! Carl Gaston departed this life on Monday, June 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dorthel Gaston, brother, George Gaston, Jr., and sister, Geraldine Gaston. Carl leaves to cherish his memory, his father, George Gaston, daughter, Ebony Felicia Cobb, sisters: Linda (Don) Gaston-Mounger, Carolyn Gaston, Bonnie (Cary) Edwards, Tommie D. Gaston, Donald Gaston, Ronald (Janice) Gaston, and a special uncle, Rev. Dr. B.J. Gaston, nieces and nephews: Jessica, Crystal, Sabrina, Taylor, Dorthel, Alessandria, Danny, Tommie Jr., and great-nephew, Joshua, special friend Lenore LaGrone as well as a host of uncles and aunts, cousins, and friends too numerous to name.
