Mr. Elmer Edward Brooks

Elmer Edward Brooks was born on May31,1948 to Daisy Brooks in Centreville Township, Illinois. He received his formal education in the East St. Louis Public School District. Elmer became a Pentecostal at an early age and united with Prince of Peace Gospel Church. He helped with the setup for church services throughout Centreville Township, where his mother preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. He later began his own preaching and teaching ministries where he always spoke God's truth to the church, his family and anyone who would listen. Shortly after, Elmer found his lovely wife Janet (Armstrong) Brooks, who he enjoyed dressing in the same colors for church. They were married on May 29, 1985. Their union was blessed with seven children. He raised all of Janet's children like his own and was loved by all of her family. After relocating to Milwaukee, WI, Elmer joined Bethesda Church of God in Christ, where he served as reverend. Elmer was employed by Marquette University as a custodian until his retirement. He enjoyed dressing up, going to church, telling jokes, and eating his wife's cooking. Elmer became a licensed minister through Prince of Peace Gospel Church (Milwaukee, WI) on January 20, 1991. He earned a diploma upon completion of the New Life Bible Correspondence Course from The Voice of Prophecy (Los Angeles, CA) on May 5, 1992. Elmer E. Brooks departed this life on March 21,2019. Hewas preceded in death by his mother, Elder Daisy Brooks; sister,Josephine Brooks; brother, George Brooks; and son, Johnny Armstrong. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife,J anet Brooks; son, Thaddeus Brooks; daughter, Shauniece Miller; children, Kevin, Michael, Norva and Allen (Tammy) Armstrong, Angela (Leonard) Monroe and Miranda Bennett, all of Milwaukee, WI; sisters, Estella Brooks, Ruth Brooks and Daisy Mae Brooks, all of East St. Louis,IL; in-laws, Ronald (Joyce) Shabazz and Jacqueline Armstrong, both of Milwaukee, WI, Arlece Johnson, Denise Johnson and Johnny Armstrong, all of St. Louis, MO; special granddaughter, Janet Meeks "Little Janet"; special nieces, Cynthia Jackson "Lady Bug" and Reeda; special nephew, Wayne; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
