Mr. Elmo Nealy, Jr.

Elmo Nealy Jr. was born in Davilla, Texas on January 20,1932. He was the fourth of twelve children born to the union of Elmo Nealy Sr. and Aimee Nealy. There were 14 total siblings. He was affectionately called "Sonny Boy" by his family. Elmo was brought up in the church and accepted Christ at an early age. He received his formal education in Davilla, Texas. Along with his parents Elmo Sr. and Ammie Nealy, Elmo Jr. was preceded in death by his siblings; (brothers) Robert Nealy, Leroy Nealy, Ell C. Nealy, and (sisters) Clara Davis, Emma Davis, Elma Lee Johnson, Darine Young and Ruby Lee Harris. Elmo lived in a loving Christ-like way. His actions and conversations displayed his inner belief of living a Godly life. His smile and warm personality infected everyone that he contacted. Elmo was a great leader, teacher, and confidant of men and women in all areas of his life; church, family, job, and the Steele Workers Union (where he served a Senior Union Steward). Elmo was a dedicated worker of American Can Company for over 40 years. In his earlier years he worked as a machinist, and co-workers came to rely on his guidance and experience on the job. Elmo also worked for the Midwest Tire Co. for 20 years. He took great pride in working on cars and was an accomplished mechanic. Elmo also enjoyed spending time with family and friends socializing in hunting, fishing, grilling, gardening, and trying to stay on top of the never ending honey-do-list (he was quite the handyman). Elmo Nealy Jr. departed this life on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. He leaves to cherish his precious memories Willie Mae Nealy, his loving wife of 64 years. With this union, God blessed them with four children; Patricia (William) Teague of Milwaukee, WI, Gerald Elmo (Carolyn) Nealy of Houston, Texas, Darrell G. Nealy of Milwaukee, WI and Mychael B. Nealy of Milwaukee, WI, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Further, he is survived by his siblings; (brothers) James Nealy of Davilla, Texas, Donal Nealy of Temple, Texas, and Timothy Nealy of Temple, Texas: (sisters) Margretter Nealy of Temple, Texas, Joyce (Ronald) Williams of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Evelyne Nealy of Temple, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
