Mrs. Ernestine Marcella Miller

Ernestine Marcella Rollins Miller passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the age of 92. Ernestine was born February 11, 1928, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late Rev. Henson Rollins and Lula Honaker. Ernestine was the youngest of eight children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended and graduated from Perry Cline School in Pikeville, Kentucky. She attended Kentucky State University in Frankfort, where she met her future husband, Jesse James Miller Jr. Ernestine and Jesse married in Pikeville, Kentucky and relocated to Mil- waukee, WI. Out of this union seven children were born: Perry Don, Jesse James III, Kenneth Bruce, Virginia Katherine, Creighton Mark, Barbara Anita and Terry Glen Miller. Ernestine continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Education and Early Childhood a.nd continued graduate courses while raising her "Seven Wonders". In Milwaukee she joined Westside Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member for over 60 years. Ernestine worked for Day Care Services for Children for most of her career in various roles from Teacher to Administrator. After retirement, Ernestine along with two former administrators started a consulting agency for early childhood devel- opment. She taugbfyoung graduates and teachers the fundamentals of early childhood development', giving them the tools necessary to help develop a young child's mind. Seeing the transformation ofa young cbild:Smind was a source of joy for Ernestine. Ajoy which she also found in nature. POI.' example, her love of butterflies and what they symbol- ize. Butterflies are a sign of beauty, of change and transformation in one's life, they also symbolize luck, freedom, rebirth and resurr~ction for what she truly believed in. Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and son Terry Glen. Ernestine leaves a legacy to celebrate with her four sons, Perry Don (Caroline) Miller, Jesse lames III (Guntriml Bunk} ;Miller, Kenneth Bruce (Stella) Miller, Creighton Mark Miller, and two daughters, Virginia Katherine (Kenneth (deceased» Downey, and Barbara Anita (Samuel) Baldwin. Sbe leaves to carry on her legacy 12 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, a host of nieces, I1,t:pbews, many relatives, church family, and many mends and acquaintances.
