Ms. Ettamae Smith

Etta Mae Smith was born on October 16,1944 in McComb, Mississippi unto the union of George and Arie Nunnery. She attended school and completed her formal education up to the 8th grade. She met the love of her life Willie Smith J r. and was married in holy matrimony in her early 20's. The loving couple along with their first born son moved to Milwaukee, WI where they permanently resided. Etta Mae visited New Jerusalem Evangelistic Temple where she immediately joined and was an active member of the church serving as a Minister and Sunday school teacher. She later joined Spirit Led Deliverance Center, under the leadership of Apostle Mary Lafayette. She was known for her strong faith, and consistent character. She loved The Most High and dedicated her entire life to serving Him. Etta Mae was a nurturer and many children flocked to her and viewed her as a mother figure. Although no one can beat God's giving, Etta Mae came in a close second. She never hesitated to give what she could to anyone in need and was blessed with her needs being consistently met throughout her life in return. Etta Mae diligently raised and took care of her family as a housewife for many years. She later utilized her nurturing spirit by starting her own daycare where she worked for herself, giving children a safe place to be and parents peace of mind knowing that their children were in caring hands. Additionally she was a caregiver with Holistic Health for the years that followed. Etta Mae loved to sing as well as cook and would often sing while preparing meals. She was known for her amazing potato salad. She was a prayer warrior and often interceded for her family. Her health condition never stopped her praise. She sang until she couldn't sing anymore. When she couldn't sing she would move her feet, clap, and wave her hands. When she lost the strength to do that she would often be seen in her bed hands pressed together in prayer. Her amazing example of praising the Most High in all circumstances is inspiring and will forever be a part of her lasting legacy. Etta Mae Smith peacefully departed this life and transitioned into the presence of The Most High with her youngest daughter by her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost forty years Willie Smith [r., her sisters; Earlene Marie Nunnery, Avis Galloway, Sara Nunnery, Marie Wells, Elizabeth Patterson, & Rebecca Buie; her brothers; Roosevelt Nunnery & Leroy Nunnery. She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Willie David Smith [r., Evette Childs, Gary Smith, Renise Smith, & Denise Burton all of Milwaukee, WI, her grandchildren; Markell Smith, Ashanta Niya Davis, Jovan Smith, Jalen Smith, Jordan Smith, Ariana Smith, Joshua Smith, Jeremiah Smith, Shekinah Smith, & Shiloh Smith; her niece Lorrie Towns, and a host of loving family, friends and loved ones.
