Mrs. Fannie B. Kincaid

FANNIE BEATRICE KINCAID was born on May 7, 1942, in Pickens, Mississippi to Mary Tillman-Morris and Victor Tillman Sr. She was the second oldest of six children. Fannie received her formal education in Mississippi. She later migrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she worked at American Linen, for a number of years, until retirement. Fannie accepted Christ, during the middle years of her life, and was a frequent visitor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Fannie loved watching sports, gambling, fishing and gardening. She took great pride in making sure her yard looked nice, at all times. During the summer, you could always count on seeing her sitting on the front porch, talking on the phone and drinking a Pepsi soda. There wasn't a holiday that wasn't spent at 2921 North 22nd Street because that is what we've always known as home. During the holidays, we could count on Fannie to make her infamous dressing, mac and cheese, greens, chicken claws, green beans, buttermilk pie, etc. These were just a few the favorite dishes she prepared for her family. Fannie Beatrice Kincaid slipped away from us peacefully at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital on Friday, July 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her: father, Victor Tillman Sr.; mother, Miary Tillman-Morris; daughter, Mary Diane Thurmond; and son, Andrew Earl Thurmond. Fannie leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing her: three sons: Mack Malone, Don Thurmond and Bobby Settlers; two daughters, Delores Harrington and Jacqueline Thurmond; a host of brothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all of 22nd Street.....................FANNIE'S FAVORITE CLASSIC SOUTHERN BUTTERMILK PIE.......INGREDIENTS: 1 1/2 cups sugar.....3 tbsp. all-purpose flour.....3 large eggs.....1 cup buttermilk.....1/2 cup butter, melted.....1 tbsp. loosely packed lemon zest.....3 tbsp. fresh lemon juice.....1 tsp. vanilla extract.....Perfect Pastry Crust.....Garnishes: fresh berries, whipped cream, fresh mint...............How to Make It: Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Whisk together first 2 ingredients in a large bowl. Whisk eggs and next 5 ingredients into flour mixture; Pour into Perfect Pastry Crust........Step 2: Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes or until almost set, shielding edges with aluminum foil after 15 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool 1 hour.
