Mr. Fred Lee Williams

Fred Lee Williams was born on March 12, 1924 to the union ofZach and Lula Williams in Grenada, Mississippi. Fred was the youngest and last living child of Zach and Lula Williams who had 11 children. Fred received his formal education within the Grenada County school system in Grenada, Mississippi. Fred accepted Christ as his personal savior and had a personal relationship from an early age; at which time Fred joined the Pleasant Hill Church in Grenada, Mississippi. There he remained a faithful member until he moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1942 where he met the love of his life, Miss Lucy Mae Carr. During their courtship Fred and Lucy decided to move to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1950 and were married in 1951 at the Tabernacle Community Baptist Church. They were married for 63 years. Fred was employed by American Motors Corporation (AMC)/Chrysler up until his retirement in 1992. Fred was a faithful, dutiful and long time member of Tabernacle Community Baptist Church for 63 years. He was a faithful attendee of Sunday School. Fred also enjoyed singing in the Tabernacle Community Baptist Church Male Chorus. He was a committed member of the "Over the Hill Brothers". Fr~d loved the Word of God and hearing the Word of God being taught. Fred, affectionately known as "Uncle Fred" and "Pops" enjoyed life and in doing so, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Lucy. Their favorite vacation spot was Hawaii. They also traveled to several National Baptist Conventions. When not traveling, Fred loved fishing, hunting, watching western movies on TV. and you could always find him watching a baseball game on a Saturday afternoon. Fred also enjoyed his volunteer work as a Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop #79, for several years. He mentored and guided many boys and made a major impact in their lives often into adulthood. Fred was a pleasant and delightful man of God and remained in that loving character until the time of his earthly transition to his heavenly home. Fred Williams departed this life on September 24,2014: He was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Lula Williams; and his ten siblings, Mary, Viola, Henrietta, Willie Earma, Lusette, Courtney, Lillie Mae, Edna & Earl (twins) and Robert (RRee). He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Lucy M. Williams of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; son, Fredrick Bounds of Memphis, Tennessee; granddaughter and great-grandchildren of Memphis, Tennessee; four nieces, Ora Turner of laGrange, Illinois, Mattie Harmon of Chicago, Illinois, Hazel Travis of Chicago, Illinois and Eleanor Wat:ts-Lewis Games) of Senatobia, Mississippi; four nephews, Earnest Knox (Iulia) of Chicago, Illinois, Sam Lewis Kincaid (Mary) of Aurora, Illinois, Paul Salley of Greenwood, Mississippi and Elmer (Billy) Knox (O'della) of Arkansas; and a host of great nieces and great nephews, two God-daughters and other relatives . and friends to cherish his memory.
