Mr. Gene Edward Brown Jr.

inister Gene Edward Brown, Jr, was born on July 28, 1961, to the union of Mr. Gene Edward Brown, Sr., and Mrs. Charlotte Nolan-Brown in Milwaukee, WI. He received his formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System. After high school Gene went on to graduate from Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), to complete a degree in barbering and cosmetologist license. Gene was a very hard worker. He traveled from state to state selling cleaning supplies for 20 years. He later worked as a barber at Jackson's Barber Shop, then located on Third Street and Martin Luther King Dr., Milwaukee, WI. After working there for several years, he opened his own salon, "Hallelujah" barbershop on North Teutonia Avenue, Milwaukee, WI. Gene owned and operated his barber business at this location for seven years. He them moved his business into a new location (1st and Burleigh St) where he worked for four months before his illness took a toll on him and he was not able to continue to work. In 1996, Gene was introduced to Christ through Assistant Pastor Dexter Williams, who at that time was the head of the prison outreach ministry for Power House of Deliverance AFC. Gene accepted Christ, was baptized and became of member of Power House of Deliverance AFC., under the leadership of the Late Pastor Ada L. Price. Gene was highly favored by Pastor Price, and she officially called him her godson. When it came time for Gene to be corrected by Pastor Price, he would always start to cry, hence came his nickname, "Cry Baby," given to him by Pastor Price. During his time at Power House, Gene served in the capacity of deacon, licensed and ordained minister, choir member, member of the men's department, faithful Sunday School member, adjutants to Pastors Barbara and Dexter, and Wednesday night bible teacher at the Salvation Army. Minister Gene also was the church van driver and was known as the stern yet favorite van driver because he would treat the riders to McDonald's after Sunday morning service before taking them home. While serving in the choir and the brotherhood, he led two songs that all the members would love to hear him sing, "You Outta Run and Tell That" and "I'll Go If I Have To Go By Myself." Minister Gene moved his fellowship to Philadelphia C.O.G.I.c. under the leadership of Bishop John A. Barton Sr., where he served faithfully as a church van driver and serving on the prison outreach ministry, under the tutorledge of Elder Ronald Johnson. Minister Gene faithfully assisted with van repairs and prison ministry expenses whenever needed. Minister Gene's love for the men of God showed as he preached the gospel and encouraged the men to surrender their life to Jesus. Minister Gene remained in fellowship at Philadelphia C.O.G.I.c. until the Lord called him from his labor. Minister Gene loved eating out and dressing sharp. His life's passion was spreading the good news of Jesus! Even with his limitations, Minister Gene still found a way of getting out and helping somebody. There was no slowing down Minister Gene Brown. Minister Gene was introduced to the love of his life, Amber Charlene, by the late Pastor Ada L. Price. Gene and Amber celebrated their io" year wedding anniversary on February 12, 2015. In July 2012, Gene health began to fail. During the course of his illness, he received rehabilitation care at Colonial Manor, Glendale, WI, and then he was transferred to Wells Springs, Milwaukee, WI, until he departed this life. Minister Gene leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Amber Charlene Brown, three brothers, Brian, Eric and Kevin (Cheryl) Brown. two Aunts; Rhonda Welch, and Marcia Nolan, One Step-daughter Melissa Dailey, Three Step-sons Stallone Dailey, Brian Holmes, and Perry Peck. Two God-sisters Senior Pastor Barbara Williams, and Mother Hattie Johnson, Nine grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Minister Gene is preceded in death by his parents, father Gene Edward Brown Sr., mother Charlotte Nolan-Brown, Grandmother Isadora Nolan-Watt, Grandfather Charles Nolan, and Brother Jeffrey Brown.
