Mother Geneva McGee-Harris

Geneva McGee-Harris, affectionately known as "GMA' and "SWEET" was born April 13, 1935 by the Grace of God to Vera L. Floyd in Corinth, Mississippi. "Sweet" attended Scales Elementary in Corinth, MS. Geneva received her GED at Milwaukee Area Technical College and pursued undergraduate courses at UW Milwaukee. In August of 2001, Geneva married Hezekiah Harris. Together they grew gracefully in Christ Jesus, while serving the Lord at Mercy Memorial Baptist Church. Geneva departed this life on December 30, 2014. She is preceded by Mother Vera L. Floyd, and siblings, James Wesley, Betty and Doodley. She leaves a strong legacy of four children, Michael (Penelope), Diane (Hank deceased), Marty (Cassandra), and Marlon (Earlene); siblings Gloria, Veronica, and Boyce; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a host of relatives, friends, fellow Prayer warriors, and 1 great-great grandchild, Ky'Lei. In 1964, Geneva led her family to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is in Milwaukee, WI that Geneva became "GMA." She had previously married, Thomas "M.L." McGee, of Corinth, Mississippi. By 1970, she became a foundry member and director of the first free medical clinic - motivated by the Black Panther Party - called, "The Peoples' Free health Clinic," which became the Isaac Coggs health Center. Continuing her lifelong commitment to health care, Geneva so-founded the Prescription Advocacy Referral Services (PARS). As an advocate for the elderly, she was the featured guest host of the highly rated, talk-radio segment, "The Golden Times" for The Word Warrior Report - on 860 AM WNOV - where she could be regularly heard singing , "Jesus on the mainline!". At church, Geneva served as a Prayer Intercessor, and on The Lord's Supper Committee. GMA really enjoyed reading the Holy Bible, sewing, shopping, traveling and making health products from facials to her famous liniment- which could be used to alleviate aches and pains. Most of all she enjoyed pouring blessed oil and baptizing several grandchildren into a life of Christ Jesus. GMA could always be counted on by God to witness the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world! Geneva or GMA will forever be remembered by countless individuals, for her encouraging words, infectious laugh or the Holy Ghost inspired prayer of faith - that she cheerfully placed in our hearts.
