Mr. George Russell

It was a warm winter day on February 26, 1963 in Sardis, Mississippi when the world was blessed with the earthly soul of George Craig Russell. This energetic, loving, and caring little baby boy was born to his parents, Charlie George Russell Jr. and Olivette Turner Wilson. As an adolescent, George, who was also referred to as "Craig" by his family, moved to Milwaukee to take advantage of the opportunities in the North. George began his career driving for the Greyhound Bus Company and then embarked upon driving the school bus for over 10 years. George settled into his career when he was hired by Waste Management where he provided over 18 years of dedicated service. He continued his career at Advanced Disposal where he served for 4 years. Everywhere George went, he was a "social butterfly" who loved people. George was a loyal and committed individual. His commitment was visible through his love for family, friends and those he encountered and welcomed into his life. George was always the life of the party and could always be found laughing and joking as he hung out with his best friend, Kevin "KC" Carter. In September of 1996, George's charm through his ability to "talk crazy" won over the heart of his wife Nikki (Neal) Russell. The two of them exchanged vows in September of 2000 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where the blending of their families became the focus. When not focusing on his family, he found time to become the Green Bay Packers #1 fan. George loved watching the Green Bay Packers and was prepared for the game every Sunday. He also enjoyed basketball, watching westerns and grilling on his patio. He also took pride in helping others; all you had to do is mention a task and you knew George took care of it. George loved his children; Jenifer, Kristopher, Artavia, Shamika, and Quintin. He was often found striving to provide for them and doing his very best to impart wisdom in their life; while also spoiling and nurturing them. On March 25, 2018, George Craig Russell surrendered to this world of trials and triumphs in return for everlasting peace with his creator. This dedicated husband, loving father, committed grandfather, strong sibling, faithful friend, legendary family member and tender God-fearing soul leaves many to cherish his memory; his beloved wife: Nikki Russell; three daughters: Jenifer Logan, Artavia Logan, Shamika Anderson; two sons: Kristopher Russell and Quintin Coleman. Six grandchildren: Carrion Carson, Kymora Carson, Kynira Carson, Tarnell Weary Jr, Mariyah Wooten and Saniyah Wooten; Sisters: Bernice Dunnigan, Mary Russell, Rose Russell, Linda (Linzie Jr.) Buck, Barbara Ann Russell, Carlene (David) Riley, Charlene (Kenneth) Austin, Vicky (Timothy) Connor, Pam Russell, Beatrice Bobo, Sandra (Marvin Lynn) Watson, Sherry Winston, Sarah (Randy) Pugh, Rosemary Harding, Iris (Michael) Johnson, Renee Wilson and Maria (Dennis) Wilson-Palm. Brothers: Charles Milton (Beverly) Russell, Alvin (Rochelle) Russell, Hal Clay (Debra) Russell, Phil (Winnie) Russell, Steve (Johnnie Mae) Russell, Jimmy Russell, Quitty (Stephanie) Wilson, Shawn (Kim) Wilson. Two uncles: Herman (Charlene) Russell and Charles Harris. Aunt Savannah Harris and host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend Kevin (Melissa) Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie George Russell Jr. and Olivette Turner Wilson. Six brothers: Robert Lee Russell, James Russell, David Russell, Rodney Russell, Paul Russell, Climent Turner and four sisters: Brizell Russell, Jennifer Russell Young, Linda Jean Tramell and Susie Turner.
