Mr. George Homer Wheeler

George Homer Wheeler was born on July 20, 1945 in Leland, Mississippi to loving parents, Maggie L. Holt and Eugene M. Wheeler. He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age and attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church while in Leland, Mississippi. He relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Robinson. George attended North Division High School and graduated in 1963. After graduation he began working at Schlitz Brewery until they closed in 1981. He then worked at Kohl's Department Store, General Electric, and finally retired as a bus driver from Milwaukee County Transit System. From his first marriage he fathered three wonderful daughters, Noelle, Roshanda and Kendall, who he loved dearly. After his divorce he married Mary Ewing on December 28,1991, who had two daughters that he accepted as his own, Pamela and Victoria Ewing. George joined Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Walter Lanier and became one of its dedicated Deacons. As a Deacon he worked tirelessly for the Lord and supported-his wonderful church family in every way that he could. George enjoyed several hobbies including bowling, carpentry, and working on cars. He loved all types of cars. If someone had trouble with their car, he used his skills to help them fix it and get on the road again. He even built a small electric bike that he could actually drive and this was one of his favorite projects. In addition, he loved to watch football and spent many Sundays after church enjoying the game. Throughout his life, George was always busy helping others. His perseverance and faithful spirit helped his children and others believe that all things are possible if you put your trust in the Lord. George H. Wheeler silently departed this life on November 18, 2022. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his wife Mary Wheeler; his daughters, Noelle Wheeler, Roshanda Wheeler, Kendall Wheeler and Tori Ewing; his grandchildren, Demarko, Devellan and Ameenah; his siblings, Eugene Wheeler (Deborah), Martha Fair (Adell), Lee Vera Gentry, Mildred McDowell (Oscar), Patricia Wheeler, Terese Robinson (Kim), Peggy Fortune and Alicia Bates; and special cousin, Kimberly Baker. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and dear friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Maggie Wheeler; a special auntie, Mittie Baker; daughter, Pamela Ewing; grandparents, other aunts, uncles and cousins.
