Mr. Gerard Hanif Pate

GERARD HANIF PATE started his journey on June 21, 1978 to the union of Jerry Pate, Sr. and Hob (Pimthong) Pate. Gerard was the second of three children. He was a wonderful man that was loved,is missed,and cherished. Gerard was raised in Milwaukee, WI and made many lifelong friends that treasured his friendship along the way. Gerard's early elementary education started at St. Agnes and Holy Angels Catholic SchooL He later attended Milwaukee Public schools, John B. Burroughs Middle School and Washington High SchooL He graduated from Washington High School in June of 1997. Gerard loved playing sports. As a young child, he played Pee Wee soccer, coached by his father Jerry Pate, Sr. While attending Washington High School he played varsity football. He was a focused, determined, and a disciplined player. His dedication for the sport warranted his se- lection as a second team all-city middle linebacker. Gerard was very proud of his accomplishments, along with his parents and family. After his teen years, Gerard later found his passion in working for Boilermaker 107. He started as an apprentice and worked his way up to a skilled boilermaker. He took great pride in his job and absolutely loved the people he worked with. His peers appreciated his dedication. They considered him a great worker and a better friend. Gerard's faith and value system was well established from his parents. It was this value system that would guide him throughout his life. Growing up, Gerard attended Hampton Avenue Church of Christ where he accepted Christ and was baptized. He had a very good pallet for food tasting. Everywhere he went he was open to trying new foods from different cultures and learning about its origin. Gerard enjoyed cooking a variety of different dishes and was known as a great cook. His dishes were versatile from barbecuing to making an entire holiday dinner for his family. He was self-proclaimed as the best cook in the family. He was not shy about letting anyone in the family know. Becoming a father was one of the best life gifts Gerard ever experienced. He celebrated the birth of two beautiful children; his son Adon and his daughter Antaya, who he referred to as "his ladybug:' made him most proud. Gerard loved watching movies and listening to music with his children. There is no denying that they brought him the most pride in life. Gerard was a loving son, making a point to call his mother every morning to just say "Hello': He often bragged to his other two siblings that he was without a doubt his mother's favorite. On Monday, September 30, 2019 at approximately 2:20pm, Gerard Hanif Pate father, son, brother, and friend was touched by an angel letting him know "it was time:' In his last seconds, Gerard was surrounded by his family and friends as he took his last breath. Loved ones who have cleared the path for him are: his grandmother, Roena Garrett, aunt Delores Pate and uncles, Julius Pate and Timothy Garrett. Loved ones that will miss Gerard until they meet again are his parents, Jerry Pate Sr. and Hob (Pimthong) Pate, his children, Adon Pate and Antaya Pate, his siblings, Jerry [r, Satien, Misha, and Melita, his 99 years-old grand aunt Bernice Garrett, his aunt Belinda Garrett, his uncles, John and Bryan Pate, his nephew Kendrick Pate, along with his many cousins. It is comforting to know that Gerard lived his life with great intent, achieved genuine happiness, love, and died without regret. The gift of life is precious, and Gerard appreciated and embraced this fact everyday in his 41 years in this lifetime.
