Ms. Gloria J. Brown

Gloria J. Brown was born on June 1, 1949 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of two siblings born to the union of the late James Robert Brown and Archie B. (Jones) Brown. Her brother James Robert Brown, Jr. also proceeded her in death. Gloria was the step-daughter to the late Dr. C.V. Harrington. She graduated from Lincoln High School in June 1967. As a child, Gloria accepted Jesus Christ as Her Lord and Savior and fellowshipped with the local church with her mother. As a young adult, Gloria sang in the choir and she served as the Church Secretary at Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church founded by her mother and stepfather c.v. Harrington and Archie B. Harrington in 1970. She maintained her membership at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church for 20 years before uniting with New Hope Baptist Church. Gloria is the proud and loving mother of four children, Jeannine K Brown (Atlanta, GA), twin sons, Travis A. Brown (Milwaukee, WI), Mister Trevor (Andrea) Brown (Redding, CA) and Jason A. Presley (Atlanta, GA). Gloria has three grandchildren, Jazmyne Tiara Brown (Dallas, TX), Sophia Grace Brown and Evan Josiah Brown (Redding, CA) who brought her so much joy. She encouraged her children to be kind, to laugh often, and to find joy in doing what you love. Gloria worked at the Milwaukee County Courthouse from 1977 to 2004. She retired at age 55 after working her twenty years, as the Deputy Clerk of Courts in the chambers of Judge Lee Wells. She loved her career at the Courthouse. She actively mentored and trained younger deputy Clerks, developed friendships with attorneys and supported law clerks working in her courtroom. In 2003, she received a Dedicated Service plaque for 25 years of service with Milwaukee County. After retirement, she returned to the courthouse to provide training and fill in as a contract deputy clerk in Milwaukee and Racine County. Gloria was well known for her baking talent. In 2001, she was featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in a story about her many homemade cakes. Giving was her love language and she happily gave homemade cakes, brownies and cookies to family and friends. God rescued Gloria on Saturday, January 12, 2019. She left many memories that will live on through herfamily and friends. She was often described as kind, sweet, smart, fun, funny, loving, a trusted friend, a confidant, great conversationalist. Gloria will be missed and will always be loved.
