Ms. Gloria Grace

Gloria Grace was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on November23, 1936. Gloria was raised in the Grace family household with her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” and grandparents, Alice and Cornice Grace, uncles, Cornice “Duke "Grace, Richard Grace, Lester Grace and aunts, Christine and Joyce Grace. She was a lively and inquisitive child who loved playing and keeping up with her aunts and uncles. She loved ice cream and would like to run down the street to meet the ice cream truck. She could keep up with the best of them. Gloria was developmentally disabled and was not able to talk, but she never let that stop her from expressing herself or from enjoying life. As a child, she was known to go and round up her aunts when it was time for them to come home from playing outside and they could tell that she meant business! Even though Gloria was not able to speak, she could effectively communicate her needs and whether or not she was happy, angry or sad. She always made it clear how she felt. She communicated differently than others by using hand gestures, body language and sounds. She was very animated and had a great sense of humor and could make anybody laugh. Although Gloria had many challenges in her life, she was known to lift the spirits of friends, relatives and even strangers. Through it all, she persevered and triumphed as a fun loving, happy, good natured person with all the love in the world in her heart. She made friends wherever she went! Gloria was baptized at Jesus Cares Ministries, as an adult, and accepted Christ into her life. Gloria was funny, engaging and a very joyous person. She was one of the most kind, lovable and caring people that you would ever want to meet. She was very sociable, loved to dance, dress up and wear fancy hats, purses, shoes and beautiful jewelry just like her mother. You could observe her on many occasions wearing an armful of bracelets, and many strands of necklaces. She was quite the fashion plate! She was a kind and gentle soul like her mom. She loved music, special outings, painting and shopping. She was easy to like and cared and loved others. She was a wonderful big sister to Sheila Knox, Joy Morgan Donaldson and Michael Morgan, a loving aunt to Dr. Lia Knox, David Knox and Simeon Donaldson and loving great-aunt to Jade Knox. She will be missed by her devoted Aunt Christine Kennis who grew up with Gloria and by her cousin, Paulette Kelly who loved her and spent quality time with her over the years. Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Morgan; uncles, Cornice “Duke” Grace, John Richard Grace and Lester Grace; and aunt, Joyce Welch. A special thanks to Candy Dahlke, owner of Bryant Homes-Foxcroft location, where Gloria last resided, for arranging and coordinating care and for providing a home environment for Gloria. She will be truly missed by her family, friends and caregivers
