Ms. Gloria D. Smith

Gloria Dean Smith entered this life on June 2, 1959, to the union of Murphy Lee Morgan and Lucy (McClendon) Morgan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Gloria was affectionately known as "Cookie", because of her genuine love for sweets. With almost every meal, she was sure to have on her plate some cake, pie, cobbler, ice cream or cookies, and would often start with dessert first! She received her formal education in the Milwaukee Public School System and graduated from Washington High School. Gloria accepted Christ as her Savior at a very young age and was united with Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as a Pastor's nurse, usher and a member both of the women's choir and mass choir. She took great pride in singing and often volunteered to lead songs. Her enthusiasm, love and passion for God was evident to everyone who knew her. Gloria was united in holy matrimony with Dale Robinson Smith on June 14, 1986, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dale, who Cookie referred to as "Teddy Bear", was the love of her life! These two were virtually inseparable. Their union was blessed with three children, although one could argue that they had five. Cookie absolutely adored her grandchildren, whom she spoiled and treated like they were her own babies. Gloria was employed by Strattec Security Corporation for more than 22 years, with her most recent position beng a Quality Control Auditor. While at Strattec, she proudly served as a union steward, representing the interests of her fellow colleagues. Many of her co-workers regarded' Gloria as family and regularly looked to her for inspiration. She truly touched the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact, spreading the love of Jesus everywhere she went. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, serving God, spending time with family, dancing, singing, traveling, watching movies and going out to eat at her favorite restaurant, Red Lobster. Gloria departed this life on March 27,2018, after having fought a battle with cancer. She went peacefully while at Vitas hospice care, with a very supportive and loving staff. Gloria was preceded in death by her father Murphy Morgan, niece Arnica Morgan and oldest brother Cranston McClendon. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 32 years, Dale Smith; children Vernishia Morgan, Dalon Smith and Dalisha Smith, all of Milwaukee, 'WI; mother Lucy Morgan of Milwaukee, WI; sisters Pamela Morgan, Bernadette Morgan and Sabrina (Calvin) Morgan, all of Milwaukee, WI; brother Carlton (Denise) Morgan of Milwaukee, WI; a special daughter-niece, Demetra Morgan of Atlanta, GA; nieces Pheloundashea Copeland of Atlanta, GA, Kenytte Morgan of St. Louis, MO, Marvellis Morgan of Milwaukee, VI; nephews Tirrell Disner of Green Bay, 'VI, Terrell Morgan, Devin Morgan, and Darrell Thompson all of Milwaukee, '''I; grandchildren Devonte Valls and Janiyah Jones both of Milwaukee, VI; "Siblings-in-love" Hulon Smith of Waynesville, MO, Elaine Thomas of Jackson, MS and Phyllis (Robert) Branson of Canton, MS; ten great nieces and nephews, along with a host of aunts, cousins and other extended family members and in-laws.
