Mr. Hoyt Alexander Mahaley

The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23 Hoyt Alexander Mahaley was born on Monday, August 16, 1943 to the union of Sergeant Hoyt Mahaley and Gladys Burt in New York, New York. Hoyt grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey. He received his formal education in the Jersey City Public School System and was a graduate of Henry Snyder High School. He obtained a Bachelors Degree from Virginia Union University. Hoyt served in ROTC and was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Hoyt relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to pursue career opportunities. He was employed as a Social Worker by Milwaukee County in the Department of Aging. He retired after thirty-six years of dedicated service. Brother Mahaley was a member of the Church of the Incarnation Episcopal where he served as an altar boy at an early age. In 1974, he became a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ where he served on the Pastor's Aide committee for the late Bishop P.J. Henderson. He later joined Salem Rest Church of God in Christ to worship with his wife's spiritual parents, Mother Lucille Curry and Pastor James Robinson. Hoyt met the love of his life, Ella W. Walker. In 1977, they were united in Holy Matrimony. Their union was blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Joy. Hoyt was a devoted husband and father. He instilled in his children Godly values and the importance of getting a good education. He was so very proud of the accomplishments and success of his sons, Hoyt Jr. and Morris as well as his daughter Joy. Hoyt enjoyed cooking. Without a doubt, he was famous for creating new concoctions in the kitchen! He was an avid sports fan, loved history and was a collector of various items. "Life should be measured not by the number of years, but rather by the loved shared, the memories made, the joy given and the blessing received". Hoyt was loved and admired by many and will be missed by all whom lives he touched. On Monday, December 5, 2016 in the comfort of his home, God transitioned Hoyt from his earthly home to his Heavenly home. He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 39 years, Ella; Brenda Mahaley of Birmingham, Alabama; beloved children, Hoyt (Mary)Mahaley Jr., of Atlanta, GA and Morris (Tatia) Mahaley of Dallas, TX and Joy Mahaley of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, Lance Mahaley, Elijah Mahaley, Morris Cain, Paige Mahaley, Marissa Mahaley, Mya Mahaley, Marsay Mahaley, Benjamin White Jr. and Mekhi Price; brother and sister-in-laws, Mary (Pastor Willie) Wright, Elder Robert (Iris) Walker, Mother Prentiss (Bishop Charles) McClelland, Mother Debra(Pastor Robert) White all of Milwaukee, WI and Rachel Walker of Denmark, TN; cousins, Muriel "Dee Dee" Roberts and Atty. Thomas A. Roberts II; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sergeant Hoyt Mahaley and Gladys Burt; aunt, Muriel Roberts; uncles, Clay Burt, Louis K. Burt and Clinton F. Burt; cousins, Clifford and Clinton Davis; and other loving family members. May his legacy resound in all whom encountered his presence Knowing that his great teachings, unwavering faith And warm embrace shall forever be in our hearts.
