Mr. John Harold McCottrell

John Harold McCottrell was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on March 9, 1949, to Jennie Mae McCottrell and Mozell Eziekiel. At the age of ix, John Harold (as he was called by his family) moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he attended Milwaukee Public Schools. John graduated from North Division High School in 1966, where he participated in Booster Boys, Science Club, National Honor Society, Student Council Advisory Board, the "N''Club, and the Tattler staff. John was a member of the North Division High School Golf and Swim teams. John enjoyed baseball, gymnastics and participated in the Badger Boys State Games. Upon graduating from North Division High School, John Harold attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. After graduating from Morehouse in 1970, John Harold obtained his master's in Business Administration from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. John enjoyed a great career with Mars Corporation as a Regional Human Resource Executive for approximately 25 years. After retiring, John eventually returned to Milwaukee, where he worked as a substitute teacher with the Milwaukee Public Schools. It was there that he discovered his love of working with children and sharing his experience and wisdom with the next generation. John Harold was blessed with one son, Johnathan Barrett McCottrell. John Harold was very active on committees at his alma mater, North Division High School, serving as Vice President of the North Division Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, as well on the Call to Action Committee to save North Division. He was a founding member of the One Accord Foundation. John Harold professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated member of New Testament Church and served faithfully as an usher. John Harold departed from this life on February 9, 2019. He will be remembered for his ambition, generosity, kindness, love of life, dedication to his family and his witty sense of humor. John Harold was preceded in death by: Marion Kincaid, stepfather; Harold Turner, uncle; and Minnie Jamison, aunt. His memory will be cherished by his beloved mother, Jennie Mae Kincaid; son, Johnathan (Simone) McCottrell; aunt, Annie Turner; uncle, Robert Jamison; uncle, Tyree Jamison; aunt, Pauline McCottrell; the "love of his life" Gloria Miller; three granddaughters, Sage, Sanai and Sydney McCottrell; many special cousins, many very treasured friends, and . North Division classmates (Blue Devils).
