Ms. Josie Mae Thomas

Mrs. Josie Mae Thomas, the cherished daughter of the late Lucendy and Tom James Mathew, was born on September 18, 7929, in Shelby, Mississippi. She was the oldest of two children and attended Shelby Elementary School, where she laid the foundation for her education. During these early years, she met and married the late john William Thomas, with whom she shared the blessing of two beautiful daughters. Later in life Josie moved to Chicago, where size pursued further education at Englewood Night School. With a passion for helping others, she dedicated marry years of her life working as a caregiver until her retirement in 1992, Josie, affectionately known as 'Joe, If was a free spirit with a heart full of joy. She embraced life with an open heart and a vibrant soul, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her laughter was like a melody, dancing on the breeze and bringing happiness to all around her. With a sense of adventure that knew no bounds, she inspired her children and loved ones to live with kindness and treat others as they themselves would want to be treated.Josie's warmth radiated Like sunshine, spreading love, positivity, and encouragement to anyone who crossed her path. In her presence, the home was a sanctuary of joy, a place where memories were created and cherished. Size nurtured not only her family but also the dreams of others, always encouraging them to be fearless and chase their passions. Every day with her was a celebration of life's many joys. On the early morning of Thursday, October 10, 2024, Josie Peacefully departed this Life, Leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration. She is preceded in death by her mother Lucendy Smith, father Tom James Matthews, stepfather Willie Smith, sister Sarah Mae Lee, as well as other cherished family» members: Dorothy jean Missouri (daughter) Barbara Thomas (daughter), Nathaniel Thomas (son) Ramona Zena (daughter), Philip Thomas (son), granddaughter 'Irina Thomas, grandson Nathaniel Thomas, great-great-granddaughter Faith Davis, great-great-great-granddaughter Indeyah, and great-niece Kiara Kinard; Noah Mungon and Ike Owens, Hardy Wilcox, and Hank Wilson. Josie's beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children James Thomas, Patricia Durr (Kevin), Dennis Thomas (Desiree), Asukile "Maurice" Bandele (Samicia), and Cindy Thomas (Darryl) Her legacy continues through/~ her twenty-six grandchildren, sixty-three great-grandchildren, forty great-great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-great-grandchildren. Size is also remembered by one niece, two grand-nephews, one special dear friend Rosie, daughter-in-law Vanessa Thomas, and two sons-in-law, Walter Lee Missouri and Renard Phillip .
