Mrs. Kathleen Hampton-Lee

Kathleen was born in Bradley County in Banks, Arkansas to the union of David Hampton III and Oddie Lee (Belin) Hampton. She confessed Jesus Christ at an early age. She attended Mt. Era Baptist Church in Arkansas. During her childhood she along with her brothers and sister were raised by their devoted Auntie and Uncle; Mittie and Monroe Hampton, after the passing of her mother at the age of 12. She attended 4th Street Elementary and Lincoln High School. She furthered her education by taking classes through the UW-Madison Extension. Over the years she became the family's history keeper. She researched the family tree, documented the information found and shared the findings with others. She was so good at it, by memory she was able to connect family names, places, and relatives. She taught others how to do the same. She married Elmer Taylor Sr. (deceased) in 1954. This union birthed three children: Duane Richard (deceased), Karen Lynne, and Elmer Keith II. The Taylor family was accepting and full of love. They provided an abundance of love and support until her passing. Her second marriage took place in 1968 to Evangelist Lee Jr. (deceased). She was loved and adored by his family. Through this union one child was born and she was blessed with another daughter and son: Christopher Allen Lee (special friend, LeChonne), Elizabeth Ann (Marvin) Tate, and Gerald Banks Sr. She was so proud of all her children and always provided love, support, and encouragement to them. As the matriarch of her family, she gave herself to her whole family unselfishly. Kathleen loved dressing sharp, traveling to family reunions, reading, completing puzzles, encouraging hundreds on Facebook, cooking, growing plants/flowers, and spending time with her family. As a young adult, she was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Jewel Williams. In 1975, she became a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church pastored by Reverend Genora Patterson. Mt. Olive was where she rededicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ. Kathleen loved serving the Lord through various ministries. One of her loves was taking Christian Education Classes statewide and nationally. She enjoyed traveling across the country to take these classes. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, on the Pastor's Aide, Anniversary Committee and the Usher Board. She was the Usher Board President for 12 years. As of her passing she served on the Mother's Board. She loved and supported her Pastor, John K. Patterson. She gladly served wherever she was needed. She was faithful at Mt. Olive for over 40 years. Professionally, she worked in health care, retail, manufacturing, and education. She took an early retirement from SK Williams Manufacturing Company that allowed her to branch out to teach children. She provided family childcare, which allowed her to form a special relationship with Brenda Ferrill and her children. She served as a volunteer at Urban Day Head Start and later at SDC Child Care Center. She loved working with children, many were at risk with multiple needs. She was often touched by their stories and always found a way to bring sunshine into their lives. Kathleen was a breast cancer survivor. In 2007, she won her battle by God's grace and mercy. For this, "God gets all the glory." She outlived her siblings: Joe Vons, Dvan, David L. aka "Ricky Lee", Roy Lee, and Athleen Griggs. She outlived her uncles and aunts: Lemon, Mitt, Monroe, Abe, Rosie, Peaches (Van), Vernice, Calvin, Margie, Willie, Pansey, John, and Gracie; three nephews: Kenny, Anthony, and Ricky [r., one niece, Shirley, as well as many other relatives. She leaves to cherish her memory the following loved relatives: sisters-in-love. Marie Hampton, Carol Hampton, and Jeanette Baldwin; special nieces and nephews: Earlene, Gloria, Darlette, Bernice, Crystal, Paula, Pat, Ieechia, Jeanette, Craig (Rae), Renee, Dorothy, Larry, and Bobby, all of WI; Gary ofSD, Colette (jeffrey) of AZ, Shannon ofMN, and Kelly of GA., Rolanda (Tim) and De'Mia (Bernard) of VA. She is survived by 19 grandchildren: Latitia, Duane ]r., Quincy Sr., Quinell, Terance,Jajuanna, Dejuanna, Kiera, Telissia, Camelia, Antoine, Miranda, D'Andre, Kecia, Dondre', Victoria, Jovinia, Jonathan, Gerald jr., and Lanysia; 32 great-grandchildren; along with a host of friends, special cousins, extended family, and her church family.
