Mrs. Kwang Hui Newburn

Mrs. Kwang Hui Newburn was born on April 15, 1955 to Mr. Ku Yong Yi and Mrs. Chun Ye Yi in beautiful Seoul, South Korea. Kwang Newburn completed her education in Seoul, which is also where she met her life's companion and soul mate; Mr. James Newburn. They were united in holy matrimony on April 16, 1975 at the Embassy of the Unites States of America in Seoul, South Korea. Their union was blessed with four children. Mr. & Mrs. James Newburn would take on many of life's adventures together. From traveling to running a business, they were inseparable, and were undeniably each other's best friend. this bond was deepened when Kwang was diagnosed with cancer in the latter part of 2013. James became Kwang's muscle when she weak, and was her pillow when she needed comfort. they fought the battle courageously, and showed the disease their strength as a unit. together, with the help of their four brave children, and many loving family members and friends, Kwang beat cancer. Kwang accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was a devout and passionate member of New Life Korean Church in Milwaukee. Being a member of this church not only kept her connected with her Lord and Savior, but also helped her to remain linked to her Korean heritage. It was at New Life Korean Church where she was able to step away from Americans and immerse herself within her culture. Kwang's professional life was centered in the Beauty Supply Industry. She supervised many of Milwaukee's beauty supply stores before purchasing her own in February 2008. Her infectious personality and great compassion allowed her to develop many strong relationships with customers that often grew into amicable friendships, and even more often into a family-like bond. Consequently, she was known to many as "Mama Kwang." Kwang Newburn possessed many talents. From Certificates of Appreciation handed out by The Army Chief of Staff to various culinary awards, Kwang was honored many times for her talents while servicing as the wife of an Army Sergeant First Class. However, the talent that she was most passionate about was cooking. She was a fantastic cook. Her marriage led her to learn to cook Soul Food with the exotic flavors of her native Korea that magic would happen. Besides cooking, Kwang's favorite pass-time was spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Kwang Newburn was given her wings from God on the morning of June 27, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Mr. and Mrs. Yi. Mrs. Kwang Newburn, who served as the foundation of her family, has now been granted the duty of watching over them from Heaven above. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James Newburn; four devoted children, Andre Newburn, Quetia Newburn (Dannie Simpson), Jason Newburn (Kayla Henderson) and Marilyn M. Newburn; her dear Mother-in-law, Marilyn R. Newburn; 12 affectionate grandkids; a host of caring relatives, including brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins and several close friends.
